Lol at calling it a tailgater instead of just a tailgate. Is that really a thing? Like referring to anytime you grill out as a bbq?

For anyone going to the game and wishing to tailgate, the best option we have found previously is the Manning lot. It is outside, by the woods(so you can piss), and opens either 5 or 6 hours before the game.

You have to pay 5-10 bucks I think though, and it is a fair walk to the stadium, but not too bad.

it is almost like flipping a coin.

you get heads 5 times in a row....sure...you can get heads the 6th time also, but you are more and more weary each time that the tails is gonna pop up.

We couldn't stop a guy from running, even though we knew that was all he was going to do. THAT has me concerned, especially since we are going up against Bernard, who, and this might come as a shock to you, is going to run the ball. It'll be made even worse by the fact that they will have a pass threat as well. I'm afraid it's not going to be prettu

We didn't prepare for any scrambling plays from the qb (he was their third in line), we will prepare for Gio to run the ball (i know, doesn't mean we'll be able to contain him). you like to argue, don't you?

no, I don't like to argue.
but I'm just saying, we knew they had one play, the run, and we couldn't stop it. preparation be damned, it ought to be damned simple to stop a one-dimensional team, especially when you know that's all they got.

I just worry about our pass defense and how we will be able to attack a pretty well balanced run and pass game, even considering preparing for them. Like I said before, I think we'll need turnovers to when this game, and hopefully make them more 1 dimensional (limit to running game) and use those turnovers to get points, not block in the back penalties.

^^while that's true, it's no excuse for not stopping it. You don't have to prepare for football basics every week to know how to stop it. They've faced running teams. They've faced scrambling QBs. It's not new.

If the Miami game defense shows up we will lose by 3 TDs at least. I agree, it will take some turnovers to get the W on the road in this one. We need to get out to a good start with some sustained drives and put up TDs rather than FGs. Carolina has had problems scoring TDs in the red zone and so we need to take advantage of that and distance ourselves if we have the chance. I think Bernard will have a solid day, but if we can get to Renner he will make some bad plays and that will make the difference.

^^they weren't just running, they were running the triple option, and which almost always requires prep by the D. Sure we could have done better but saying "we knew they were gonna run" is vast over simplification

I think our passing game will be our primary advantage.

Our D has been good vs the run overall this year, and our d-line is showing a lot of improvements to pressure the QB. I think their offense vs our defense is a wash, and should contain them to less than 20pts. Our secondary is still the best they have faced all year.

On the other side of the ball, UNC's secondary is their main weakness. Our passing game is our only offensive weapon, so we should be able to move the ball. We still need try and run the ball, otherwise they will be dropping 7-8 into coverage all day. Our running game has sucked this year. Creecy has not shown us any consistency with moving the ball. Too many 2-3 yard runs. Thornton is more explosive, but we don't use him often enough.

Both teams are capable at having big offensive plays for huge chunks of yards, which makes this game tough to predict. We have not had the chance to successfully nurse a lead in a close game since UConn, which is a concern. During our 5 game win streak, we won by less than 7pts in three of them. I have no reason to believe it won't be close again, but any can happen. Again, our passing offense wins us this game, since it looks to be the biggest mismatch on the field.

I would attribute our rushing woes moreso to our patchwork O-line than to our running backs. Plus our line seems to have been recruited more for defending the pass rush anyway. I think Creecy is very talented. He's smart, blocks pretty well, he's strong, and doesn't fumble. He follows his blockers and gets what he can, and doesn't try to do anything flashy or extraordinary.

The main thing that concerned me about not being able to defend against Burns running is that we had a week of preparation for an Option offense before we played Citadel. Obviously the scheme was completely different from what Maryland did, but the basic principles of defending the Option should be pretty similar. Everyone has their assignment and everyone stays home so both the QB and the guy flanking him are covered.

Anyway, we got the win. Maybe this week we should just prepare gameplans for both Renner and his backup, and then just hit him on every play.

I will be interested to see if we can run on them, they gave up an awful lot of yards on the ground to Miami and Duke.

lmao at whoever thinks the triple option is one play and "just running the ball". GTFO. Our defense did an amazing job considering they had to fight through 2-3 different gameplans. Oh, they still held them to 18 pts

If we can establish a running game, and get around 150 on them, then it's game over

What you have to remember is that even if you call it the 4-2-5, their base defense is just the nickel so running the ball should be the plan as long as the line plays well.

Yea, it's not like UNC has a dual threat back up QB or that Renner is injury prone. No risk at all.

The past 4 years, I recall our defense really fucking up their QBs with sacks and big hits. We knocked out Renner last year. Yates was always good for ducking and falling at any hint of pressure. I don't really remember 5 years ago, but I don't think we gave Yates too much hell that day.

Yeah over the last few years our D-Line and LBs have gotten a lot of pressure on the QB and stopped their run game. UNC's O-Line is really good this year though. I think UNC has only given up 5 sacks this year.

I watched the highlight videos on SFN. For some reason the part that made me smile was when they announced that Marvin Austin had gotten the sack.

I guess I was feeling trolly

The spread is still -7 unx, last I checked. Based on the last few years, we all know that is meaningless. And I always have expected to lose to them. However, having said that, I think we win a nailbiter. Also, fuck those cheating faggots.
