sweet lineup, excited for kurt vile, ty segall, pere ubu, Adult., lapalux, etc.

as big a spiritualized and big boi fan as i am (and i do legitimately love both those artists and am very excited to see them), i imagine ticket sales won't be as high for the city plaza shows this year, but i could be wrong. i hope i'm wrong.

also, Big Boi is super entertaining live for those of you who haven't seen him. Doesn't shy away from playing Outkast shit.

Okay so I'm familiar with about 8 of the bands of the lineup. Give me some artists/songs to check out so that I will share in the excitement about this lineup.

Or, if you'd prefer, just condescend in regard to my previous lack of awareness of all these artists.

I saw Big Boi at Memorial Hall in 2011 and it was so bad. He just played the videos. Bring a band if you're gonna do a live show, b

I didn't know it. Some of you that are personal friends of FI probably knew it.

They also just posted the full schedules today, for anyone that didn't already know them all (such as myself)

http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/schedule/

Friday looks nuts.

I'll probably catch, in order: Gross Ghost, Future Islands, Big Boi, Big Black Delta, Local Natives, Mikal Cronin

Gross Ghost plays too often for me to put them in my schedule. I know not everyone follows that rule, and I don't follow it hard, but I see them enough.

^^ FWIW, they won't be playing any shows until Hopscotch. I realize that's only 10 weeks, but still.

Obviously I missed that, but thanks.

and ^^^ with Gross Ghost opening the city plaza set, there isn't really much else going at that time slot on that they'd be competing with.

^True enough. It's not that I dislike them (though I think there were better choices), just not amp'd at the "chance" to see them. This year my schedule is leaning more towards seeing bands I wouldn't be able to see otherwise. I think in the past I made the mistake of seeing bands I've already seen before and enjoy--but have experienced and will probably see again. Not that everyone has to do that.

I'm looking for some recommendations for who to check out between Body Games and Marnie Stern/Kurt Vile on Thursday night. I've popped around on the website checking out the bands and nothing is really jumping out at me.

I love everything that Kurt Vile has ever put out, but with that said, I'm nearly certain the Matthew Dear set will be the can't-miss set of the two

yeah I was disappointed they were at the same time. I knew I wanted to be there for Marnie Stern and I like Lincoln Theatre, so I figured I'd stick around for Kurt Vile. But yeah, is there anything decent to check out before Marnie Stern, or should I just head to Lincoln Theatre after Body Games?

^^ Sylvan Esso is a really good new local band

I'll probably be checking out Lapalux and Dauwd, but then again I love electronic music so I'll probably be at the Pour House all night on Thursday

Pharmakon should be pretty good too, if you want to see something completely different and loud
