Haven't been this excited for a regular season game in a while. Obviously I always get pumped for the Duke and UNC games. But this one is different. Plz to not disappoint, Pack.

i feel so loved, more so than this time than last few years

last time state beat duke in the regular season, duke won the national title

so anyway, i think this will be a good game
with Kelly out i say state wins 81-79
im 50.2% behind this prediction

Duke is going to absolutely hammer us from beyond the arc, though Kelly being out does help us. If we can somehow manage to weather their barrage we might have a chance to pull it off.

No predictions other than it'll be a fun and frustrating game to watch.

Some things to note:

1) Duke doesn't shoot a ton of 3's this year, but they have been very accurate when they take them. Can't give them good looks as they have a lot of guys who make a high percentage.

2) It will be interesting to see how they adjust for Kelly being out. If they use Amile then they have one less shooter than they are accustomed to and floor spacing may be an issue (something Coach K is a master of). If they use Murphy, he is a perimeter oriented big man but he's unathletic and can't create or draw fouls and isn't as good. They could use Hairston as well but he pretty much sucks all around at everything so that's great.

3) Duke is already a horrible rebounding team so if they try to go small by playing Thornton with Curry, Sulaimon, and Cook in the game they will get DESTROYED on the glass. I can't imagine that lineup would last long. Regardless, we should have an advantage on the glass in this game.

4) Duke is an excellent FG% defense and we are an excellent FG% offense. Basketball is an offensive sport so a good offense should be able to overcome a good defense, but at the college level you just never know because the guys are inconsistent.

5) With Kelly out neither team has any depth to speak of so foul trouble is particularly important. Duke literally has no one to adequately replace Plumlee, so a couple quick whistles on him and Duke will be in a complete mismatch against the more talented and more athletic NC State frontline.


It's a game we could definitely win if we play with some sensibility on defense for once. The refs will probably hurt us really badly though and Duke is pretty battle tested. I'll go with Duke 79-73, but I hope I'm wrong.

I don't like saying it and I hope I'm wrong, but I have a baaaaaad feeling about this. This game could get away from us pretty quickly.

Maybe a bad feeling isn't the right thing, but I think we should all temper our expectations a bit.
