i mean, throwing the ball out of bounds behind the basket trying to sell a foul is just as bad.

don't forget stepping on the baseline. or taking steps in the lane.

[Edited on March 18, 2013 at 2:23 PM. Reason : also, that's not much of a punt]

We finished 5th in this years ACC, the weakest in a long time, with more talent and experience than we could dream of having next year. What makes anyone think we'll come close to finishing in the Top 6 next year?

NC State fans have been extremely spoiled with Scott Wood over the past 4 years. Those guys just rarely come along.

I think we'll have enough shooters/slashers for next year. Turner, Purivs, Warren, and Lewis can all hit the open three. I think we'll be fine with just those guys, but we'll be golden if we get the JuCo Lee. I think Barber can knock down a wide open three as well.

I'd like to keep looking for a dead-eye shooter, but your team doesn't suck if you don't have one. You just have to be able to get a good percentage of open threes to keep defenses honest.

Miami has a team filled with experienced 25 year olds, one of the best PG's in the nation, and they have shown their talent in the past.

UVA was a bit of a surprise, but they had a pretty easy schedule. They didn't have to go @Duke or @NC State. Also, they play solid defense(fouling without it being called pretty much) and we haen't been known to do that in a long time.

Just saying...losing what we lose, and as young as we're going to be...I am not expecting much of anything next season.

1983DanDakich probably spent the entire Houston-Louisville game criticizing the defense and proclaiming the winner of it would obviously be the national champion

They definitely just took a picture of Ralston from when he was at LSU and shopped the jersey to make it red...

per insider
Quote :
"

Possible 2013-14 starting five:
G: Lorenzo Brown
G: Rodney Purvis
F: T.J. Warren
F: Kyle Washington
C: BeeJay Anya

Who it loses: On paper, NC State loses two vital seniors who have helped this program turned around under Mark Gottfried. On the outside, one of the best 3-point and free-throw shooters to ever play at NC State will graduate in Scott Wood. Inside, Richard Howell will be missed not only for his scoring and rebounding all season long but because he did so when the Wolfpack needed it most. Howell has been the most consistent performer all season for this team, averaging double-figure points (12 ppg) and rebounds (10 rpg). The uncertainty is whether guard Lorenzo Brown and forward C.J. Leslie will enter the NBA draft, and those decisions will determine how big of a void the Pack will have to fill next season. Both are projected as late first-round or early second-round picks. Freshmen Rodney Purvis and T.J. Warren are also pro prospects, but neither is ready to make the leap this year.

Who it adds: A trio of ESPN 100 recruits are headed to Raleigh next season. If Brown does go pro, Anthony Barber is physically ready to play the point. He still must improve his jumper and learn the game, but there is so much talent to work with. Power forward Kyle Washington will be a steady force as a frontcourt player with the versatility to play facing the basket or duck in for post feeds. Center BeeJay Anya is a physical specimen with a 7-foot-9 wingspan to block shots and score close to the basket on drop-off passes and offensive rebounds. He does have a nice jump hook with his right hand over his left shoulder and he should be able to develop into a legit scoring threat with girth on the blocks.

What it means for next season: Once the status of Leslie and Brown is known, then we will know exactly what the Pack will have next season. We do know the incoming recruiting class is strong, ranked No. 13 in the ESPN class rankings. Of the two, Brown would be the bigger loss because he is a high-level distributor at seven assists per game and his departure would mean relying on Barber and rising sophomore Tyler Lewis to carry the load. Even if both Brown and Leslie leave, this club should still have plenty of offensive firepower with Warren and Purvis.

Trending: Holding steady. Regardless of who leaves or goes, there is enough talent in the program to continue to be a threat in the ACC. "

If Lorenzo comes back, which I highly doubt he does, where would the minutes come from to keep everyone happy? Sadly, we're not like UNC and Duke where we can sit our MCD-AA and keep them around for 4 years.

We'd have to run a lot of 3 guard sets rotating between Brown, Lewis, Purvis, and Barber. We played a lot of 2 PG sets late this season with various levels of effectiveness. We'll see a lot more of that if Brown is back next season. The good thing is, Brown and Purvis both have the size to play/defend the SG spot for us.

I'll just be happy to see some quality depth on this team. Only going 6-7 deep for 90% of this season was tough. We weren't able to play a lot back to back in the ACC Tournament without looking tired/gassed and we slowed down a ton at the end of the season in general, partially due to fatigue.

Scott Wood leaving will pretty much open up 40 minutes a game for a guard. I full expect us to go small next year and be playing 3 guards the majority of the time. I don't think we have enough capable big men to have any other option.

IF Brown comes back, cut his minutes to around 30 a game and then you have 90 minutes to split between Purvis, Barber, Lewis, and Turner. It could work.

Wood leaving will open up 40 minutes for someone that will be productive, not completely suck on defense and does more than score in 10% of games.

Yeah, that is kind of a shitty little comment to make at the end of the article. Is he going to say the same about someone on UNC or Duke's bench when they lose?
