If they're so damn upset with the NCAA as some people think, they can shut the fuck up and get the hell out at ANY TIME THEY WANT! It's like a guy that bitches all the time about how horrible his girlfriend is. Then shut the hell up and dump her dumbass.

And then they can create a new body to govern college sports that's so clearly not the NCAA called the "American Collegiate Athletics Association". They could base it in Indianapolis.

I'm not being silly, I've played amateur adult men's rugby for 4 years and I know what the system you want looks like. Sports that don't make money to cover costs either look like what I did or don't exist. Minor league football does not exist in this country as a sustainable endeavor and the death of college football would not impact that. USFL, WLAF, XFL, UFL - all failed. I watched a UFL game in Omaha on TV get 20000 people to attend. The league still lost millions of dollars! And they were not paying their players $50k a year.

Also, you think that Alabama fans and Auburn fans because their teams disappeared would cheer alongside one another for a team based in Birmingham? Why would they?

Epitaph: The only thing that stopped the SkyHawks from greatness was early '90s ACC football.

Quote :
"but when the NFL is forced to subsidize a minor league you'll see some really good football in about 50 different cities without NFL teams."

The NFL is not going to subsidize anything. Why pay for something you currently get for free?

"This is the most bullshit thing in the world, the universities ARE THE NCAA! If they want the NCAA out of power, they can secede en masse or vote to dissolve! The universities elect the NCAA president, select the rules the NCAA enforces, determines priorities, eligibility procedures, etc.

If the NCAA disappears, what's going to happen? A group of universities will get together and create a new body that would be for all intents and purposes an NCAA."

Keep telling yourself that, but then I ask why did Auburn hire lawyers to defend their school, Cam Newton, and keep their national championship? By your logic Auburn was defending themselves, from themselves? The NCAA is it's own entity at this point and the schools choose to be a part of it. However if the NCAA doesn't get their act together I think you'll start seeing more conferences asking the question, "Why do we need to be a part of this?" There is already talk from schools and conferences about leaving the NCAA... but I don't think ultimately they want to do that but I think you'll start to see more and more pressure for some rule changes and if you watched Spurrier at SEC media day he talked about the list of changes the SEC and coaches discussed.

all bullshit aside that bounties don't exist in football, you got the figure that Manziel has one of the highest prices on his head. the only one I could think that would be more is probably Tom Brady

I bet the backup QB for the browns doesn't have that high a "bounty" in a preseason game. What a dumb comment. These guys are just trying to make rosters getting stupid penalties hitting QBs in preseason?

Well, part of making a team is making plays. And getting pressure on the QB is a good start for a defensive player. Nobody is gonna pay a player who injures Manziel in the preseason, but you have to think there are plenty of defensive players around the league that would like to welcome him to the NFL with their helmet.

White media can't have Johnny Football acting like a black player. Thus, we have Johnny Football.

Ha, new Johnny, same as old Johnny. Guy's a dick and spoiled brat from a legacy of less-than-honorable fellows.

Sometimes people make a mistake in the heat of the moment, but once you have proven you are a consistent douchebag nothing is going to change, you are what you are.

Could this guy be any dumber

Quote :
"Peter King of TheMMQB.com reported on NBC’s Football Night in America that Manziel failed to show up on Sunday morning, as the team requires for players in the concussion protocol. Manziel didn’t show up for the 9:00 a.m. ET meeting with a member of the franchise’s medical staff.

According to King, the Browns tried to reach Manziel by phone, but couldn’t.

Via multiple reports, owner Jimmy Haslam has confirmed that Manziel didn’t show up at the facility on Sunday."
