Yeah, the secondary isn't in nearly as bad a shape as it's perceived. The late game collapses were more shitty defensive play calling than poor individual play (except the Matt Ryan bomb over Nakamura, that was horrible). If Short and Lotulelei pan out, then our front seven should be the best in the division and one of the best in the entire league. Teams will not be able to run the ball against us. Safety play is still the big concern but I think our corners are fine. Either way, it's the offense that will make or break the year. Cam has to bring it for 16 games, no excuses.

def feel like the roster is moving in a good direction, I'm especially understanding of linemen now from watching horrendous o lines completely kill some teams last yr, however I'm still concerned at WR, if steve smith kind of falls off that age cliff we could be in trouble and could hinder newton's development

Kerry Rhodes is still available in free agency. I think the Panthers should take a look at him. If the price is right, he could really bolster our secondary.

I'd like Rhodes more because he's a bit younger and would be able to stick around longer. Woodson would be great, but he's nearing the end of his career. Denver is pretty perfect for him.

He doesn't need to win a playoff game, but he definitely needs to get there, or at least be in contention going into the final week of the season. The last 2 years the Panthers season was over by Week 10. Our roster still isn't good enough to truly compete for a championship, especially depth wise. We can only really sustain injuries to a couple positions, and there will be injuries. They can definitely make the playoffs though.
