And unless he signs in Europe I would be willing to bet that shitty team that signs him will have a GM named Jim Rutherford.

^^ not happening, Muller doesn't want him and Dreamy Chad burned his JR bridge by skipping his exit interview.

NHL.com just canceled a jersey order I made a couple months ago, presumably because I used an employee discount code I found on the web. More importantly, though, was the cancellation description:

Item 7185A5HKHPJCHUM
Description HRR 7185A Edge Premier Jersey MIAMI HURRICAN TEAM COLOR
Quantity 1 @ $ 90.99

I know, but still I just can't believe that JR won't drunk dial Chad's agent late one night asking for him back.

New Canes College Night program sounds pretty sweet

Quote :
"Similar to past seasons’ college nights, ‘Canes College Select Nights presented by SciQuest will offer students with a valid .edu email address the opportunity to guarantee their seats in advance by purchasing discounted tickets for six pre-selected Friday night games. Student tickets for the pre-selected games start at just $15 in the upper level. Lower-Level North and South end-zone seats will be available for $30, and Sideline Premier seats will cost $40. Each of the lower-level options offer $70 savings per seat. The first ‘Canes College Select Night is scheduled for Oct. 11 against Los Angeles, and discounted tickets will be available when tickets for the game go on sale on Sept. 6. The five other ‘Canes College Select Nights are Nov. 15 against Anaheim, Dec. 20 against Washington, Jan. 24 against Ottawa, Feb. 7 against Florida and March 7 against the New York Rangers.

New for 2013-14 will be the ‘Canes College Rush, which will allow students the opportunity to purchase deeply discounted day-of-game tickets. Any remaining inventory will go on sale to students at the PNC Arena box office one hour before faceoff. At that time, all lower-level tickets will be priced at $25 and all upper-level Rex Wing tickets will cost $10. To take advantage of the ‘Canes College Rush, students must show a valid college identification card at the box office window and immediately enter PNC Arena after purchasing their ticket. There is a one ticket purchase per student limit. Club level, club ledge, Lenovo Champions Club and standing-room only tickets are not available via the ‘Canes College Rush."

This is exactly how all college rush/ticket rush programs should work. Kudos to them for finally getting it right.

So you only have to show a valid student ID to get discounted tickets? I'm heading into my last semester at State and I had to get my ID renewed yesterday - they renewed it through summer 2017. Probably gonna take advantage of this over the next 4 years.

I did not renew my season tix because I'm starting grad school at State (part time in addition to working). This will be perfect to make it to the games I can. I'm extremely excited.

They used to do something like this a few seasons ago. I took advantage of it all the time, but it stopped for some reason. Good to see it's coming back. I graduated in December, but my ID is good for a couple more years so this is relevant to my interests.

I do, do you?

We just signed a guy to a minimum wage minor league deal who probably won't make it to the league but has an upside of a legitimate NHL scorer. By all accounts he was the best player on the ice in prospect camp.

Read up: http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/08/23/risk-reward-and-sergey-tolchinsky/

Absolutely nothing wrong this signing....at all. Zero. Some pre-draft rankings had him as early as the second round. If he was three inches taller he'd have gone in the first round.

Another zero risk signing by JR that has great potential (albeit years down the road).

Milan Lucic type players don't grow on trees.

I can handle the crest and overall jersey design, even if neither wow me. The stupid fucking stars though are awful.

The fake laces shit is dumb as fuck too. Nike has to throw that FLYWIRE shit on everything now I guess. Looks dumb on football jerseys, looks like someone who is brain dead designed it when it's laid out like a lace-up collar.

I love that they're constantly pushing for lighter jerseys, but instead of doing the stars as a light-shift sublimation or something, they're made of clear goo that has to be added to the jersey.

Signing Tolchinsky was a last ditch effort by JR to improve a lackluster offensive squad. I see the same in him that I did in the rookie Skinner, who now makes $5.7 million a year to visit doctors. He's got handles, will drive the slot without hesitation, loves to shoot the puck, and is entertaining to watch. NHL defensemen will break him down game by game, and if he does succeed I don't see him lasting more than 3 years. Look at Skinner, his productivity has decreased by a third since his rookie year.

St. Louis bounced around the minor circuit for years before he made an appearance in the NHL with the Flames when he was 23 years old. He had been through the trenches in the minor circuits and earned his spot in Tampa. He also had a big veteran support system to protect him.

A better example would be Theo Fleury, who came into the league at 20 years old and had a decade of extraordinary performance. He could take a hit, and pursued physicality every shift. Lets hope Tolchinsky and Skinner develop into Fleury-esque players, minus the cocaine.

Foot injury from last season still hasn't healed. Some reports coming from Finnish websites; supposedly more will be known on Monday, so I guess he is having some tests done or something. JR says the injury was "more like a car-accident impact than a sports injury."

Pitkanen to miss entire season. It's the last year of his contract so that's the end of his Hurricanes career as well I would assume, and possibly his NHL career as well.

We're off to a great start.
