"Honest question, is the phrase "This is Our State" supposed to imply that we are the best athletics program in the state? I would say that it has that ring to it, but if I think about it for more than 3 seconds, it seems to me to just be a slogan to promote the school. But then that seems like a cop-out, like I'm saying "well, it's not intended to be taken that way, just like, ya know, it's our (NC) State, like "this is our school". Perhaps for all of these reasons it should go away."

I thought they were just going to implement it last season since we had the 5 game winning streak against UNC going. The videos filmed planting flags in cities around the state definitely implied being the best in state. However, then they carried it over to this year so I don't know what their angle is or if its supposed to become permanent.

if we're going to blatantly copy others we should have some fun with it

we need to get debbie yow a "million dollar man" ted dibiase suit with block S on the lapels instead of dollar signs

she could run down the sideline and hit doeren with a folding chair when he calls an asinine fake punt

side note. I used to live in University Oaks and there is this car,Ford Focus I believe, with a Nevada wolf decal. But the way it was done it looked like a sperm with a wolf's head.

^^ I hope we didn't win that. That's incredibly stupid.

There was a case many years ago between Carroll Shelby trying to trademark the name Cobra after other companies started making their own Cobras. The judge went against Shelby saying after doing nothing about it for so long, Shelby couldn't just stop it all. Imagine Wolfpack and most other sports team nicknames with multiple users are the same way.

IIRC Reynolds was actually designed first and Cameron was a a copy of Reynolds without the 2nd deck.

IIRC you're completely wrong.

It was supposed to be the same as Cameron (which was already built), but Everett Case got them to make the endzones deeper, because he thought it wasn't big enough. That was the only way it could be made larger, because the foundation/steel supports were already in the ground, but construction had stopped because of WWII.

This is what D.Y. told me about the Our State slogan.
Quote :
"
The Our State theme has been very popular and is a reminder that the influence of our fans stretches from the far west of our great state to the beaches of NC.

No matter where a person might be in our state, there will be Wolfpackers! Ours is a large and dedicated group, determined to meet our potential in all 23 sports through perseverance and hard work."

Our state may be borrowed, but it doesn't bother me... the LSU video should have been cause for termination for someone though.

So, here's how I see this. From a branding perspective, this shows a complete lack of identity, which can have a pretty significant effect on recruiting when it comes down to a prospect questioning if this school/brand can even be trusted or not.

After all, why would you want to go to a school and learn from someone that doesn't even know who they are?

I went here to learn engineering. Not because of the midfield logo.

Anyone that chooses their school, be they an athlete or not, based on what you stated aren't exactly intelligent to begin with.

Our identity is we are North Carolina State University of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Most high school football kids when picking schools go to the place they think gives them the best deal, not due to marketing idiocy.

The identity of an institution/corporate entity is its image and how its manifested through forms of branding and trademarks in order to visibly communicate "who you are" and "where you're going" as an institution. The name of the university is only a small part of that.
