Well, I was finished, but I guess I have to keep going because you are too thick to understand what I'm saying.
Yes, I know Falcon was talking about Ant-Man. What I'm saying is it sounded like "we're all alone...oh but there's Ant-Man" but they still had 3 other allies. Ant-Man was completely unessential, other than his big distraction move (but they didn't know he could do that or that they'd need it...if he hadn't been there, someone else would have done something to be the distraction). Spider-Man was the same. Both were well done in characterization and fun fight stuff to watch, but neither served a purpose.
My point about the plane is that the big fight happened just to get to the plane. There are other planes in other places, why were they at that one airport and how did Stark know that's where they'd be? The fight didn't even need to happen in regards to the story. The end fight between Cap/Tony/Bucky had so much more meaning to it.
The only people who needed to be in this movie were Iron Man, War Machine, Cap, Bucky, Falcon, Widow, and Panther. Everyone else, while giving opportunities for cool visuals and fight choreography, were superfluous.

^I wonder if I dig through your post history whether I'll find a "Where were the other Avengers" comment on one of the solo movie threads
But anyway, they didn't get the other avengers in order to get to the plane, they thought they would need them to take down the super soldiers. They did know that Stark might find them though so backup was helpful for that reason. I assume they went for the nearest adequete plane they could get to from where they were in Germany. Sure there are other planes in other places, but if they could just get to those planes they wouldn't need a plane at all.
Stark found them easily because he knew they were in Germany anyway and probably had access to all the security cameras in the world. 5/7/2016 3:18:46 PM |

^The point is the plot was written to get all of them involved as opposed to a fluid plot where other heroes were added for necessity. The heroes should reflect the story, and not the other way around. The movie was best when it was a Captain America story and not an Avengers story.
Quote : | "The movie was meh cause you're retarded" |
I know it's pointless to say on TWW, but just because someone didn't enjoy something as much as you did doesn't make them stupid. I enjoyed it, will watch again. I just don't agree that it's the best one yet like so many others were posting.

^i understand what you're saying, and slightly agree, that's why I rank this one behind Winter Solider and Avengers, those were so much tighter overall films, but even considering its weaker aspects I could never describe this movie as "meh," and I think things make more sense than you are giving it credit for. They are going to fight 4 super soldiers and know they'll have to potentially go through Iron Man and company too, so obviously they'll want all the help they can get. And on Iron Man's side, he wants to be able to stop them without straight up murdering them, and preferably without a fight at all, and that is a very tall order, so again will need all the help he can get. I agree it may have been done/explained kind of hastily, but in a 2.5 hour movie the way they did it worked for me. 5/7/2016 4:46:31 PM |
bdmazur ?? ????? ?? 14957 Posts user info edit post |
It didn't have to be 2.5 hours. For example, Spider-Man could have shown up like he did in the trailer, as a complete surprise. Then Stark could say "just a friend I picked up on the way." Taking the time to go get him and convince him to join the team took away from the pacing and flow. (How did he know he was Spider-Man anyway? Was that explained?)
Also, the scene toward the end where Panther is talking to the main villain. I liked the concept of it, but it felt out of place and took away from the intensity of the fight happening inside. 5/7/2016 5:12:01 PM |

^Agreed. Just having Spider-man "show up" would've been incredibly lazy.
My one criticism for the airport scene is that the timing was awfully convenient. Don't think it'd be easy to get Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch to where they were very quickly. The villain was possibly the lamest one yet, but it didn't really matter.
Otherwise amazing movie. This one might top The Avengers for favorite MCU film. 5/7/2016 6:05:29 PM |

i loved the movie, and i loved the spidey/tony scene, but bdmazur is right - it totally took the air out of the movie, pacing-wise.

And having Tony show up at Peter's home without saying how he figured it out wasn't lazy?
Or saying how the villain knew to find the Russian to get the info he wanted?
Or that the exact psychiatrist was going to be in a specific place?

^ this is the shit I'm talking about.....
In he fucking water torture scene at the beginning of the movie he explains he has experience with Russian hydra Intel and when black widow released the files he sifted through them and translated what he needed. Cooberated by later in the movie showing that he was a special ops officer.
It's not fucking rocket science.
I said you didn't like the movie -BECAUSE- you're stupid. Not that you're stupid cause you didn't like the movie. Very distinct, albeit, rude (and for that I'm sorry) difference.
You really find it difficult to believe KABILLIONAIRE tony stark doesn't have the resources to find out who spider man is?
In a movie where space beings are made in a tube and use an infinity gem to have mind powers... I find a rich dudes ability to get information to be easily the easiest part of the movie to believe.
Sorry for being a dick. That was mean

I liked the movie. It just isn't as solid of a story as CA2 and Avengers 1. That's all. I realize my comments seemed nitpicky but I was just trying to verbalize why I felt that way. 5/7/2016 8:34:18 PM |

Quote : | "And having Tony show up at Peter's home without saying how he figured it out wasn't lazy?" |
First you want Spidey to show up unexplained out of nowhere, now you want Tony to get into a long spiel about the methods he used to determine Spidey's identity? Can we not accept that someone like Tony Stark could figure that out without having every step explained?
Quote : | "Or saying how the villain knew to find the Russian to get the info he wanted?" |
Explained in the movie. Hydra files were released, they were encrypted, Zemo has experience in that area and broke the encrpytion (with the added bonus of knowing what he wants). It's been a couple of years, I don't think that's somehow unbelievable that he could find someone that nobody else was actively looking for.
Quote : | "Or that the exact psychiatrist was going to be in a specific place?" |
There's not any indication that this is even classified. Plus we don't even know if he knew that it would be a specific psychiatrist, he was probably just taking the chance that the psychiatrist would be white and male and would adapt accordingly.5/7/2016 9:42:17 PM |

1) Captain American 2 2) Guardians 3) Avengers 4) Captain America 3 5) Iron Man
Spiderman was the best part of the film. And Aunt May is hot now.

Someone needs to die already. It's ridiculous that they haven't killed off an Avenger yet. And the Scarlett Witch's brother doesn't count. We knew him for 20 minutes. I went into this fully expecting Rhodes or Bucky at least, to bite the bullet.

If Rhody had died in this movie it would have been emotional, like Colsen before they brought him back. It's pretty obvious Vision has to die in order for the Infinity War to reach it's peak, but when it happens I don't think I'm going to care as much.5/9/2016 2:40:02 PM |

I would wager Vision still will not die once the Infinity Stone is removed. He is a pseudo-organic machine based on Jarvis and Ultron so he should be able to function without the stone. Certainly not with the same level of ability, though.
I fully expected Captain America to die at the end of Civil War. Everything seemed to point to this: the fallout in the comics, bringing back Bucky, the limited number of movies left on Chris Evans's contract, etc. Its not too surprising based on the final boss in this movie, though.
Also, in many ways I am glad he didn't die. I am tired of the movie cliche where you kill off characters when you are done with them. From villains to actors with which you have contracts disputes, killing them off is just lazy writing. There should be a damn good reason to do so. Granted this would have been the case to do so with Captain America if they chose. 5/9/2016 3:28:04 PM |

Most likely. (can this thing be spoiled?). Half the universe's population dies instantly, others die in the battle but they'll probably have Adam Warlock or some similar character "undo" all the deaths once Thanos loses.
Why perma-kill any character that's still making money for them in standalone movies? If they got special permission from Fox I'm sure no one would care about killing off an x-man in the MCU.5/10/2016 9:26:41 AM |
BEU All American 12512 Posts user info edit post |
So, comics in general always kill characters and bring them back.
Should movies based on comics do the same thing? It obviously makes worse movies over time because nobody thinks anyone will die.
Kevin Feige has stated that the infinity movies will fundamentally change the MCU. As in we might end up with almost an entirely different set of characters to follow. I would assume we lose 2-3 characters. We have Dr Strange, Black Panther, Ant Man, Vision, etc to replace.
It could mean a lot of things not necessarily character deaths. Might alter reality a bit.
