If I want to invest in the crazy growth associated with premium NYC and SF realestate prices, without actually buying a penthouse overlooking central park by myself, which REITs would be the best to focus on these hypergrowth mega-urban high dollar areas where demand seems to almost always outpace supply?

RHT shot up a bit today based on earnings. Be nice if it holds, but the rest of the market is shit.

^^^ yeah, i do sometimes. I have a position in UVXY right now that I got stuck in...should have taken a small gain and gotten back out, but I got greedy. Now I've been down a little for a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that I'll get a nice spike to make a bunch of money before I lose too much due to contango decay.

Should've held on a few more days

They just announced a $45mm grant from DARPA for their ebola treatment and vaccine (which was 100% effective in pre-clinical animal trials earlier). I was wondering why they went quiet after publishing those pre-clinical results a few months back. They'll be starting with first patients before the end of the month and should have results in the second half of the year. Has fast-track potential with the FDA...the CEO is saying it could be commercialized in 2016.

Now we just need the dozen+ other vaccine$/treatment$ in their pipeline to follow $uit. Seems like DARPA has come confidence in them, picking them over all of the other big pharmas. There's also an additional $11mm available on top of the $45mm if needed.

Their platform was proven effective last summer with the cervical pre-cancer trials (which by the way will have 88-week followup/update of results from the trial patients in a couple of months).

So my new Schwab broker and I had an hour-long conversation this morning, only about 10 min of that was investment-related. He was DEFINITELY flirting with me. And he sounds super hot (but name sounds Jewish, and unless he's a Jew for Jesus it will never work)

What are the rules about us communicating, dating, falling in love and getting married?

Also, I've got some cash to invest. What is a sexy stock but mid-level risk right now?

^^ Purchase stock in a company that focuses on birth control. That sends the message that you're DTF and that he can jump in without a wetsuit.

^^LOL. but is that false advertising if I plan on being celibate until I'm married?

^because I LIKE having a real person to talk to sometimes, and it makes me feel like a baller. same reason I'll call AMEX to file a dispute (vs filling the form out).

Its okay. All relationships are built on lies. This pretty much starts you off on the right foot.

And just go Jodi Arias style with all butt and mouth-sex.

Guys, this is the lounge

I like Etsy, but I'm going to wait and see before investing. It's a unique system for buyers and sellers to find each other, and while I don't think it will be revolutionary, I do see lots of potential. Definitely something to put on your watch list.

So this is been my dumb strategy for awhile with some throwaway money. There's a stock (CNET) which is pretty consistent in what it does, it'll drop to the 1.50s and then within a week or so head back into the 1.60s or 1.70s. Been having fun with it. I've bought/sold it probably like 6-7 times so far. Always good for a couple hundred.

I've been dicking around for the past couple of months buying piddles here and there, have only really made any good returns on BIIB, RHT, and TSLA recently.

I need to pay a little closer attention and start using real money for those things, because on each of the above I would've made a sizable return.

^^,^^^ what's the tax rate on buying and selling individual stocks within a year? I'm trying to figure out what margins would make that strategy worth it.

Nice little after hours pop on Amazon during after hours trading. Bought a little bit a couple of days ago in hopes that AWS announcement would be good news. Now I'm just hoping for some good Apple watch sales when it hits the store shelves.
