If he had any credibility left, I think 'ol Caulton Tudor lost it when he failed to mention us losing Turner and instead said we may suffer the absence of Desmond Lee.

UNC is easily #1 in ACC and top 5 nationally if they don't lose anyone to NBA or transfers. I don't see Brogdan or Anderson leaving UVa so I think they are ahead of us. It's hard to predict us ahead of Duke just based on history and the fact they have a pretty decent coach there. I could see us being predicted 4th preseason but there's going to be a lot of talent at Louisville, FSU, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Miami.

And our conference slate looks pretty tough. I predict us 10-8, around 6th in conference and again in the 7-10 range in the NCAAs."

^fair enough.

Given that I predict Anderson and Brogdan are coming back and UVa has won the last 2 ACC regular seasons, I shouldn't say UNC is easily first next year. But I think they have the most overall talent. I think Justin Jackson is going to be more of a consisent force next year and that Paige will be healthy and the team less dependent on him as their go to scorer. I think an extra year makes UNC more consistent and with the talent they have, if they can be consistent then they will be dangerous.

But I can't argue with anyone picking UVa given what they've done the last two years. Either way, both teams are clearly ahead of us preseason. I'm still hoping for some UNC defections.

With a top-four regional seed, the Tar Heels almost certainly would start in Raleigh, as would one other highly-seeded ACC team other than State."

NC State shit would be miracling into a #1 seed and having to travel to Brooklyn instead of Raleigh.

I hope people realize the top 2 acc teams will likely be top 5 in the country all year and the next 3 will be top 15. You think we're at that level?

Paige is the only defection that would hurt UNC. They are just so deep all over the place. I know they'll be good as long as Tony is there but How is UVA's rim protection without Atkins. Its nitpicking but thats what being #1 requires. I could see UVA 1 but also as low as 5 in the deep conference. Theres just too many good teams.

I mean, we would be that good if we played even average defense for our talent level but I'm not delusional.

UNC and UVA should be the favorites. Top of the conference won't be as strong as I expect Duke, ND and UL to regress (the latter quite a bit) but the conference is going to have far more depth this season.

Highly doubt the second part of this will be the case.

UNC and UVA will definitely be in contention for the #1 spot, but Louisville is bringing in a top 5 recruiting class and Duke has a top 10 class and both have HOF coaches. I imagine they'll both be top 25 all year along with UNC and UVA.

NC State, Miami, and FSU should all be better next year based on this season, what they're returning, and incoming classes. Syracuse has a top 10 class but lose Christmas, so I imagine they'll be similar to this year.

We were preseason #10 this year, I imagine we'll be preseason #5 or so next year if we don't lose anyone.

Going to be a tough year in conference, never bank on teams with HoF coaches to have "down" years. Yeah Duke loses 3-4 key players, but they'll still end up being solid.

McCullough is gone. Earl at this rate your boys aren't even going to be able to print their undefeated Novmber tees.

Pretty much guaranteed to be better than Cuse next year (and I'd say UL too)

Here is another with us at 17. The only way I see us cracking the top 15 for most of the year is if Barber and either Abu or Anya become first round picks next year.

Maryland as #4?

And I fully admit that I know next to nothing about MD - but that seems crazy given that they're losing Wells. And they're Maryland. But I guess they do have Diamond Stone coming in.

I mean it's great we're getting hyped as potential top 20 team, but let's not forget, we're ranked 16th and still have 3 ACC teams ranked ahead of us.

Will help as we'll have several months being ranked preseason for recruiting with the 2016 class though.

yeah that's just gonna be the reality of the ACC now. to be the best team in the ACC, you gotta be a top 5 team in the nation. there's not gonna be many years where a good-not-great team wins the ACC regular season because everybody else is in a down year. just too many great programs in the ACC for that to happen, imo.

I think there's a pretty decent chance Abu and Barber get drafted in the first round next year.

I think anya will need a fourth year of development in college. But he could explode into the scene next year too if he puts it all together

Gottfried has mentioned that he could stand to lose a bit more weight. I think he's got room to improve like a Richard Howell-esque beast.

What are you talking about? We were pretty inconsistent, but we beat Duke handily. And Louisville when they still had Chris Jones. And #1-seeded Villanova. And went to the Sweet 16 and played pretty well there. We can definitely competing on "that level", we just have to start doing it consistently.

main difference i saw between us and the teams in the F4 was their big men could all handle the ball. we have two stiffs on the court pretty much all game. i guess freeman handles the press well but hes not exactly a playmaker in the half court

We don't need big men to handle the ball to get on that level...we just need them to be more reliable scorers. The thing is that could come in many ways...Abu has a nice shot (inconsistent), obviously we know what Washington can do (need to be better on the defensive end)...and then there is Anya who has the potential to be a solid low post scorer with his size and length.

The more scorers you have, the tougher you are to defend and its less likely you have those scoring droughts that lead to losses.
