I pretty much agree with that. I'd definitely be willing to listen to somebody argue that those other guys have higher ceilings, but I'm not completely sold on it.

Guess we'll just see how the season plays out.

Let's look at the RBs ranked around the same as Morris.

Per the ESPN pre-draft rankings right now, you have the following:
Jeremy Hill
Mark Ingram
Alfred Morris
Lamar Miller
Carlos Hyde
Justin Forsett

These rankings are for a standard scoring league, so that should benefit a guy like Morris. Like I said, 8th round is entirely too high for Morris to be going, but I could understand passing on him in the 3rd or 4th if you're picking guys around him.

Jeremy Hill - coming off a huge rookie season in an established offense with weapons.
Mark Ingram - was good when healthy last year, established offense with a great QB. I'm a bit skeptical he can stay healthy, but he should get a ton of goalline work with Graham in Seattle.
Lamar Miller - top 10 last year, offense is improving, defense is good enough they can focus on establishing a running game, no real threat to take carries.
Carlos Hyde - new starter but a team that loves to run the ball. Has looked great in the preseason and has little competition of touches.
Forsett - had a huge year last year, more so in PPR. Offense hasn't changed much and he will be the focal point of the ground game. I think he's being a bit undervalued this year.

I mean you have 3 guys coming off top 10 seasons(standard scoring), 1 new starter in a run-first offense, and then Mark Ingram finished 4 points behind Morris last year despite missing 3 games and Morris played in every game.

Alfred Morris is ranked right where he should be.

Duke Johnson worth holding onto in a 12 team league after his concussion?

Already have Charles, Ellington, Spiller, DeAngelo, Artis-Payne (kinda meh, I know). Available RBs are Bush, Hillman, Helu, Denard....or I could just pick up a backup QB in Palmer or a K (currently don't have one).

So I made a mistake which forced me to trade for a receiver in FA.

I narrowed my WR choices down to Ty Montgomery GB and Doug Baldwin for Seattle.

Mont is a 3rd WR in a pass heavy offense, Baldwin is apparently a 1st WR in a run heavy offense.

Thoughts? Its a 1/2 PPR 12 man espn league.

Admittedly, I don't know anything about Montgomery, but I think Baldwin could have pretty good value. Baldwin seems like a safe pick, where Montgomery has a higher potential. Seems like there's always one WR in GB (not named Nelson or Cobb) that comes outta nowhere to have a pretty productive fantasy season

Its always good to have a west coast back up. I've always tried to have a Raider, Seahawk, 49er, Cardinal, Bronco, or Charger on my bench. Since most of their games are at 4 o'clock, its nice to have an option on your roster if one of your main guys playing at one is a last minute inactive.

Graham is the number 1 in Seattle. I'd go with gb. Wasn't Randall Cobb a stud receiver as the number 3 in Green Bay?

Looks like Julius Thomas is going to be out the first few weeks of the season, of course my backup TE is Antonio Gates who is suspended the first four weeks. There isn't really anyone out there left that seems to be worth picking up, is it best to just throw up a goose egg at TE for a week and see if anyone emerges as a potential value and try to get him on waiver? I don't really want to drop any of my bench guys for some scrub TE that might pick me up a point or two.

^^Various sites have been tracking Graham's snaps, he's been run-blocking for almost 40% of the snaps he's been on the field, something he didn't even come close to in NO. Graham will be the redzone guy, but definitely won't come anywhere close to his receptions/yard numbers. I'd just be hesitant to pick any Seattle WR at this point.

^Is it a 10-person league? Think I'd hold onto Gates and dump Thomas and spot-fill the first four weeks. Perhaps I'm just too low on Thomas, but I think Peyton made him a viable fantasy option. Now that he's playing TE and split catches with Lewis, not sold he'll put up numbers remotely close to what he did with Peyton. No one like Kyle Rudolph or Richard Rodgers available in FA?

^ 12 person league, I am definitely not high on Thomas but I want to at least give him a shot and I would be kicking myself if I dropped him and he turned out to be solid.

here are the players that are available:

^maybe roll with Seferian-Jenkins Week 1 playing TEN at home? Other than that, I'd consider Watson & Green (especially since you have Gates). I wouldn't hesitate to drop either Gates or Thomas---no reason to take a zero this early in the season.

drop Gates and pick up Green. No reason to keep Gates on your roster with the 4 game suspension and his age/health issues. I doubt anyone in a 12 team league would even pick him up. Thomas should be available by then and you can drop Green and roll with Thomas.

Went a bit RB heavy (10 team, PPR)

1. (6) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE)
2. (15) Matt Forte (Chi - RB)
3. (26) Lamar Miller (Mia - RB)
4. (35) Emmanuel Sanders (Den - WR)
5. (46) Amari Cooper (Oak - WR)
6. (55) Keenan Allen (SD - WR)
7. (66) C.J. Spiller (NO - RB)
8. (75) Tom Brady (NE - QB)
9. (86) Todd Gurley (StL - RB)
10. (95) Rashad Jennings (NYG - RB)
11. (106) Darren Sproles (Phi - RB)
12. (115) Arian Foster (Hou - RB)
13. (126) Miami (Mia - DEF)
14. (135) Darren McFadden (Dal - RB)

probably drop Jennings? for a kicker...wanna hang onto Foster just in case he balls out the 2nd half of the year

Yahoo! seemed to like it, fwiw

well my first 14-team draft is in the books. this is my work league and the only one that matters to me.

during the draft i wasn't feeling all that good, but afterwards i think i came out alright.

non-PPR. QB TD 6 pts. start QB/WR/WR/RB/RB/TE/Flex/K/DEF (Flex = WR/RB/TE)

1. (2) Le'Veon Bell (Pit - RB)
2. (27) T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
3. (30) Frank Gore (Ind - RB)
4. (55) Matt Ryan (Atl - QB)
5. (58) Arian Foster (Hou - RB)
6. (83) Allen Robinson (Jax - WR)
7. (86) Nelson Agholor (Phi - WR)
8. (111) Tevin Coleman (Atl - RB)
9. (114) DeAngelo Williams (Pit - RB)
10. (139) Andy Dalton (Cin - QB)
11. (142) Markus Wheaton (Pit - WR)
12. (167) Miami (Mia - DEF)
13. (170) Charles Clay (Buf - TE)
14. (195) Dorial Green-Beckham (Ten - WR)
15. (198) Phil Dawson (SF - K)

TE is my biggest weakness by far, but with 14 teams something must be sacrificed. the other obvious weakness is my RB depth in the first 2-3 weeks with Bell and Foster being out. but after that, i think Bell/Foster/Gore is going to dominate (they would probably be a good triple play in a 10 team league). cuffed Bell with Deangelo. i think Tevin has a real shot to be RB1 in ATL.

i usually don't take a QB that early (historically), but with 6 pts for QB, i am not that upset with Ryan. MIA defense should be stout (and a good value as 12th DEF off the board).

WR is OK. Hilton should be a beast and a top shelf WR1. WR2 could be better - hopefully one of ARob, Agholor, Wheaton can step up.

Foster at 58 seems ridiculously high

Just so much uncertainty as to when he'll see the field

As someone who drafted him, I certainly like the upside. But I think he would've been there later.

i don't know. i don't think i had a perfect draft by any means. but it's tough drafting with so many teams.

consider this: Foster's ADP on ESPN is 58.1 (+25.7 last 7 days). 65.3 on Yahoo. 60 on CBS.

also, i wasn't overwhelmed with the RBs available at pick 58: Ivory and Abdullah were the only other RBs that went (after me) in Round 5. there were a lot more in Round 6 (Jennings, Sims, Spiller, Blount, Bernard). by my pick in Round 6 (#83), I had J.Bell, Mason, Blue and Crowell to choose from. if i didn't go RB at 58, i would have garbage to choose from for the remainder of the draft.

all those guys are in big time shares, or are backups. i would rather have a great RB1 for all but the first few weeks, than a RB that might not make a significant contribution at all for the whole year. who of those would you rather have?

edit: this is an interesting league. equal parts n00bs and vets. Foster would not have dropped to 115 as he did in your league.

Again, I hope Foster plays sooner rather than later. But I heard people on the radio, fantasy experts, Houston media, etc saying his timetable was just too uncertain. He might play this month, he might miss the first 12 weeks. I just don't think he's someone you can rely on as a definite starting RB for most of the season. I drafted him with the potential for a baller, but with no real expectations. I hope I'm wrong as I got good value for him. But ADP is also fairly misleading. Yahoo ADP factors in all drafts. For example, Jordy Nelson still has a pretty high ADP since plenty of drafts happened early in the preseason.

obviously we all want the biggest bang for the buck. the buck in this case being the draft pick spent, and the bang being how many fantasy points he nets.

if he comes back and posts top-10 RB type numbers, that #58 pick is more than well spent IMO.

if it's a wasted pick, then so be it. i fully expect in a 14 team league that there are going to be a fair number of bust picks for everyone. sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

i hope that he is healthy ASAP for both our teams' sake.

I got Foster late in Round 9 (#107 overall) in this new league I joined. Standard 12-team league that has generally normal lineup, except you have to start two TEs along with the W/R flex (I started w/ pick#11):

1. Antonio Brown WR - PIT
2. Dez Bryant WR - DAL
3. Jimmy Graham TE - SEA
4. Latavius Murray RB - OAK
5. Melvin Gordon RB - SD
6. Jarvis Landry WR - MIA
7. Chris Ivory RB - NYJ
8. Sam Bradford QB - PHI (QBs were going super early, so I had to act)
9. Arian Foster RB - HOU
10. Tyler Eifert TE - CIN
11. Miami Dolphins DEF (DEFs were starting to get slim)
12. Nelson Agholor WR - PHI (huge steal)
13. Darren McFadden RB - DAL
14. Eddie Royal WR - CHI
15. Benjamin Watson TE - NO
16. Derek Carr QB - OAK

Recently dropped Carr for DeVante Parker, but this is a very strong team IMO. No RB1 obviously, but Foster could be that guy later in the season. I still need a K, and am having a hard time figuring out who to cut. I could package two players to upgrade (QB? RB?).

Man, your RB situation is rough. SD is going committee, I hate everything about Oakland's offense, and Foster is probably only good for 8-10 games total. Fortunately your WRs are ridiculous. You've got enough depth that you might be able to put do something like trade Gordon and Landry for a true RB1 and still be able to fill your WR3 and flex without much drop off.

I actually like Oakland's offense, but who knows til we see it. You can probably wait til somebody (Royal, Agholor, Landry) does well week 1 or 2 and work out a trade if Oakland is actually not that good.. People don't like Foster but if he's back in time for the last few weeks and a playoff run then that could be huge.

So who do I drop for a kicker? It's only a 10 team league so I'm thinking Jennings, just because I've already got 2 solid RBs to start, and I'm hoping a few of my lower picks will help in the PPR department (Spiller, Sproles). McFadden could get hurt fast, but I like his upside behind that Dallas line. Thoughts?

Well, I've already dropped 2 of my later round draft picks after a couple of surprise moves. Jonas Gray being cut and then not picked up off of waivers is a bit surprising, as is the Redskins keeping RG3. I was pretty confident that he'd end up somewhere as a backup with the potential to be a starter and maybe be a good trade chip later on this season.

Nevertheless:

QB - Tony Romo
WR - Demaryius Thomas
WR - Jeremy Maclin
WR - Steve Smith Sr.
RB - Jamaal Charles
RB - Eddie Lacy
TE - Travis Kelce
W/R/T - Carlos Hyde
Q/W/R/T - Jay Cutler
K - Justin Tucker
DEF - Baltimore

BENCH
Stevie Johnson
Knile Davis
James Starks
Torrey Smith
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Leonard Hankerson
Heath Miller

PPR league. I like what I've got quite a lot. Thomas and Eddie Lacey were keepers that I'm still getting at a tremendous value because of our keeper rules, and I got very lucky in our draft lottery, picking at the #3 spot when I should have been picking 6th or 7th.

I don't like having 2 handcuffs taking up bench space, but I can't afford not to do it. Hoping Steve Smith can really produce in Baltimore, he should be getting a lot of targets at minimum.

OK, so this thread is the reason I joined TWW so many years ago. don't let me down.

The following trade has been proposed:

I get:
Forsett - RB Bal

They Get:
Stewart - RB Car
J. Graham - TE Sea

I will need to pick up another TE, obviously nobody close to Graham's production. But the upgrade at RB is much needed (I will also be starting Lacy at the other RB spot).

I wouldn't do that unless I got a decent TE in return (Olsen, Kelce, Bennett?). Even then, I'm not sure if there will be THAT much of a dropoff between Forsett & Stewart (if he stays healthy). Though I suppose one could argue that Forsett should get plenty of touches with the lack of solid pass catchers for the Ravens. Is it PPR?

Randle had mixed results last year vs the Cowboys: 3-36 and 6-74 and no TDS and I think he was the #2 WR those games. I guess he gets Byron Jones if Cruz is out, which is a total question mark.

I need two of these 4:

WSH RB Alfred Morris vs Dolphins
CAR RB Jonathan Stewart vs Jaguars
OAK WR Amari Cooper vs Bengals
TB WR Vincent Jackson vs Titans

I'm thinking Stewart and one of the other three, but I am not sure who to go with. I expect the Dolphins d-line to destroy the redskins o-line and morris in return. Cooper is a rookie in his first game against a good bengals d. Jackson has a rookie QB against a solid titans D.

Kendall Wright vs. Tampa (rookie QB first game)
