The play calling was very vanilla and conservative, but that's to expected against a team like Troy. What they did was working, so no reason to change it.

Hines only touched the ball 3 times (other than kickoff returns). One was a catch for a first down.
The other 2 were jet sweeps and both times, they defense sniffed it out and tackled him near the line.

He almost broke a kickoff return for a touchdown before halftime. He has crazy speed, but just needs to bust one open. They only looked his way once on a pass and handed it off twice. They didn't need to. Dayes was doing fine.

Gallaspie had limited carries until late in the second half but he will be fine as well. I'm not worried about the offense at all.

yeah, there were a few times when the DJ tried to fill like 5 seconds of dead air as our offense broke the huddle and lined up (which was kind of obnoxious) but I expected much worse

Offense progressed but defense looked about the same which I hope will be ironed out. I was surprised by how easy Troy was able to score on some drives, the one before the end of the half in which it was 2 plays + a penalty for a touchdown was pretty poor, I think the entire drive took about 20 seconds. If we play GT again this year with the defense we fielded today we would get crushed again. Defense needs to step up.
