Yep I walked from/to west campus for that game. What a shit show. That was when there was still the grass hill in the end zone which was a mud slide by the end of the game. I have never felt more soaked in my entire life haha. Believe we lost 3-0.

times have changed. we are now in an era of widespread 24 hour news and social media which has lead to harsh criticism of officials for not being proactive about potentially dangerous situations. This has created a climate where either the official overreacts to avoid any blame or the media overreacts if any little thing goes wrong.

I dont think the game will be canceled now but last night when i went to bed, the models had the storm making landfall in nc saturday morning. There is no way the game would happen in that case. Maybe 10 years ago but not in today's world.

also if there is any tornado watch, the game will be canned. tornadoes often form to the nw of an approaching tropical cyclone

[Edited on October 1, 2015 at 9:16 AM. Reason : carolina hurricanes]

[Edited on October 1, 2015 at 9:17 AM. Reason : right now the storm is going to take its time leaving the bahamas so it will be far away on saturday]

I'm not worried about our ability to run the ball any more today than yesterday.

We still need receivers, but thankfully not until the VT game.

the models have no idea where this storm is going yet. some say it will make landfall in NC, some say as far north as NY. some say it will turn back out to sea. that's what they were saying this morning. joaquin is such an indecisive dick.

Maybe you mean the USF game in 2008? (talking about torrential rain)

That was the infamous Harrison Beck "grip it and rip it" fest. Rain only lasted about 30 minutes, but it was as fierce as I've ever seen. And USF absolutely kicked our ass.

The weather and climate teacher apparently said that we should be good Saturday morning and during the game with the exception of scattered showers.

I hope a lot of people don't stay home due to the threat of weather and then it turns out to be okay and the crowd is shit.

Unless things worsen drastically today/tomorrow I'm coming from D.C. so I will hear none of the excuses.

^^I think he is wrong.
I dont believe it.

and yeah, that USF game was ridiculous. I somehow luckily brought along ziploc bags for everyone in our groups phones. Beck was like 9 for 30 and still somehow had 250+ yards. Harrison "the gut" Beck. I swear every play he audibled to a deep bomb.

I think people are getting too hung up on the % chance of rain. If you look at WeatherUnderground forecast for Raleigh, look at the table view for Saturday, you can see before and during the game looks just fine. Sure there's a high probability of rain, but the amount of rain is really small.

Every time I check back on this forecast it keeps getting better and better.

yeah they're starting to rein in (get it?) their predictions from earlier in the week when it was being said we could get see 10" of rain this weekend. it's rained for, i think, 8 straight days. and the hurricane is coming. but the more recent predictions are calling for saturday to be drier than previously expected. still gonna be wet af though.

the hurricane is waiting to be steered north and west by a low coming from the gulf. It was expected to take off earlier and be as far north as nc by saturday but now that is looking more like sunday. Its still stalled near the bahamas. once it gets moving, we will have a lot more confidence in the forecast.

2 questions: Anyone know of a bar in Asheville where there will be other State fans to watch the game? Also, is there a permanent thread dedicated to inform of the best State bar to watch games in other cities? Thanks

i dunno, but i'd try packpride for a thread like that. seems they normally have some thread dedicated to "where to watch game in [city]?" fairly regularly.

Latest weather report I saw was mainly 30-40% chance of rain during the game Saturday.

I'll take that much more than the 100% we had until yesterday when it shifted down to 70%.

This massive amount of rain currently falling will be out of Raleigh by Saturday morning. The tailgating areas will be a huge mess, but there will only be chances of scattered showers the rest of the day.

Pack's Tavern in Asheville is the de facto State meetup spot. I've watched games up there and had a good time. Great food and beer, as you'd expect in Asheville.

There isn't a thread as far as I'm aware. I know the DC area network isn't very active, at least for basketball. They'll watch Duke and Carolina and that's about it. They didn't even have a game watch for the UVA game last year.

The Philly alumni association is awesome. Met a ton of people there I still talk to. They usually meet at Tavern on Broad.

I don't think NYC has a very active network. I've never been successful finding a game watch when I was up there, but they'll put it on for you at Legends.

WeatherUnderground forecast is looking fantastic, relatively speaking. Chance of rain keeps declining and amount of precipitation is minute. Even some little partly-sunny cartoons. Hell yeah, let's tailgate. Go Pack.

Yeah Brother Jimmy's on the Upper East Side is the spot. The alumni group up here is sort of hit or miss. During the State football game vs. FSU last year, it was amazing. Good, raucous crowd. This weekend if you reserve ahead of time as part of the NC State group, you get a 10-15% discount I think. But during the NCAA tourney the last two years, Brother Jimmy's didn't pipe in the sound, and it seemed folks were more there for socializing than watching the game.

NC State can move to 5-0 for the first time since 2002 with a win over Louisville on Saturday. The Wolfpack had a chance last season to get to 5-0 but blew a 17-point lead against Florida State. That 2002 team had stars Philip Rivers, T.A. McClendon and Jerricho Cotchery on the roster.

from what i heard, they were worried about the moisture in the air combined with the lack of air flow/ventilation in the IPF causing a really, really slick floor. It'd be a great show until Cat Barber goes up for a layup, hits a slick spot and rips his quad in half.
