I don't get that either. The bigs are trying hard, i'll give them credit but my gosh they seem like they have butterfingers everytime they grab the ball. I would rather Rowan/Caleb jack up 10+ bricks instead of those turnovers. I want the twins to score in the post more, those midgets from UNC guarding them cant stop them down lown.

I feel like Gott has outcoached Roy the past few games, we just don't have the depth/personnel (especially right now) to match their talent

they drew us in by playing great at the start of the game but then he took cat out and all the rhythm was completely destroyed. we've been treading water ever since.

So you'll come on a forum to post this? Might as well watch it, the team is playing their heart out against a stacked UNC team, with a short bench, and pus the referees with some questionable calls.

Exactly, Gott knows how to beat UNC, its just that we don't have nearly as much talent as UNC. Don't they have like 3 seniors?

Rowan? Only Rowan. Not Barber (0 pts in 2nd half) or Martin (who just dropped a 3). Also there was over 8 minutes left when he said it, yet we only have one option to win. He used "danger zone" at 10 minutes.. The fact he said the word only bothers me because he used it to show the superiority of UNC just like he always does. He is constantly telling us how we can't win and praises everything UNC does, even layups are more exciting than our 3 pointers when Dick V is the commentator.

Those 2 back to back layups from both teams that just happened are a perfect example.

I never watch a game muted but decided to give it a try for dicky reasons. It's incredibly therapeutic.

Our defense is porous, but I blame a lot of this on our bigs. When they catch the ball down low it leads to turnovers and fast break points the other way. Now I understand why Caleb and Rowan have been jacking up breaks. When Cat needs a break there are very little offensive options so might as well just shoot. The bigs don't even set screens.

its true though. unc has so many weapons. for us to beat them by 10 in 10 minutes we need solid play from cat, martin, rowan, and abu.

the game was pretty much decided when the score went from 21-15 to 21-21 because we have no margin for error and they do. when you consider the players on the court, its very unlikely that we would continue to beat them once they got going. They are a significantly better team that has more good players than we have players at all.

They have 6 guys averaging double figures while we have 7 guys total.

The team needs someone else to step up, I think Rowan bricked his shots so it sure as hell will help if he started making some. Also, Dicky V is a homer, when Duke's better than UNC he jumps board I wouldn't take him seriously.

Hate the moral victory shit, but agree here.

Also. It sucks how bad Freeman and Beej are. Beejay had to play this game. Freeman was getting abused defensively. But Beejay is out there with stones for hands and running in quick sand. He's a full step behind of everybody else on the court.

^^ BJ did suck the 2nd half but I give him credit for his good first half defense. Dude has limited offensive skillset, I shit bricks every time he gets the ball in the post. I still can't believe he made that clutch skyhook against LSU last year.

Abu and Cody Martin played well. I really hope Cody Martin continues to start over Caleb - would be nice to actually have another option to start over Rowan too.

If Cat plays like he normally does in the 2nd half that might have been a 1 or 2 possession game at the end. We just don't have the scorers to keep up with a team like Carolina when they go on a run. If any one of DSJ, Henderson or Dorn suited up for the next game they'd almost definitely be better perimeter options than Caleb Martin or Rowan.

Beejay & Freeman bring nothing offensively, but I would've liked to see what they could've continued to do defensively if the officiating in the early stages of the 2nd half hadn't totally taken that aspect out of the game. Some absolutely garbage fouls that erased State's 4-5 point lead in the first couple of minutes.

That's kinda my point. He played fine in the first half but he's just not good enough. And that's sorta my point...even at his best he's still just slow on his feet and doesn't react quick enough. UNC is just deeper and better. Their big men are so good.

Cody played well. Wish he'd drive more.

Cat was shut down.

Was pleased, overall, with our D effort.

^^ I heard rumours earlier this year that he was going pro after this season??? It might be a rumour because it makes no sense but I hope its true. He seems like a cool person but that post game is scary bad.

When Anya plays at 100% effort (like the UNC game at home 2 years back, or the Duke game last year), he can be fun to watch because he uses his size to his advantage to get boards and put backs. He just doesn't seem to care at giving any effort when he's on the court. Frustrating as hell to watch him waddle up the court, or turn the ball over every time it touches his hands on the offensive end. I've lost all hope of him developing an offensive game, but he should not be as bad at rebounding as he is with his size and length.

Him losing all of that weight just meant that he's now got better stamina to stay in the game longer and play more minutes looking like shit.

^ Are you implying that Doeren is a better coach than Gottfried? Clarify. I fail to see why you dickride Doeren so much, what has he done in 3 years to garner your support?

I'm not saying that I'm just pointing out how ridiculous of a comparison that is. Gott is a good coach but we know a lot less about Doeren. The circumstances are different for each coach. Coaches should ultimately be responsible for things that happen once they have established their program is my main point.

Failure in year one is much more of a reflection on the previous coach. Coaches become more and more responsible for what goes on as time progresses and failure in year 5 is solely on the current coach.

The notion that one coach is "better" than the other is completely pointless because they are both our coaches and coach different sports. They are not competing against one another.

Anyone who we hire gets my support for 3 years. Thats how being a fan works in my book. I don't understand how any "fan" of a school can want a coach to fail before he's established his program.

I feel really sexist and superficial for noticing this...but Chapel Hill's student section has steadily gotten less and less attractive each year. They're quickly approaching a Cameron Indoor situation.

Um no. This your first game all year? Our offense isn't great but it is well ahead of the defense.

Harrow > Marshall
TJW > Brice
Barber > Paige
Anya > Meeks

Only one even close to being in our favor is TJ and he left early. Only UNC gets people like McAdoo, Hansbrough, Brice, etc. to stay. Wonder how they do that?

One thing I will say about Gott is since we lost that ACC tourney semi to those guys, we've played our guts out every game against them since, no real blowouts by 15 +, we bring our better games and actually get up to play them. It's still a rivalry to the fans, no matter what Vitale says, Gott gets the guys ready for this game. Props to him for that.
