People weren't paying 60 dollars (or even 200) for 30 games, the sum of which could fit on a 3.25 floppy. People who were buying this were 30 somethings with a little money to burn, paying for a thing that brought back a piece of their childhood.

Sure, you could get an emulator (I eventually did) but it just isn't the same as unboxing a brand new Nintendo in 2016/17.
