The prequels....I had forgotten how much garbage they were until I rewatched them last year. They were terrible. Terrible FX, terrible acting, terrible dialogue.

I rewatched the original trilogy before Ep7 came out, I feel no reason to bother with the prequels ever again.

I wonder if there are any hints being dropped in the supplemental movies that will be brought back in the main movie line? Anything that makes them essential to the SW universe beyond fan service? I feel like the scenes on Jedha in R1 have to have some connection to Luke's obsession with the old Jedi ways.

the new line is popcorn so it will all be nods to old fans. they arent going to grow the plot from some seed planted deep in the old movies. at the most, they will continue to parallel the plot.

I hated on the preqs as much as anyone. But after my most recent rewatch I’ve softened on the hate a bit. Still plenty of moments though. I’m still confused as to how any sane person thought Jar Jar was a good idea( yeah yeah. I know. KIDS WILL LOVE IT!!!!1112345) other than that it wasn’t as bad as I remembered. Im also not hating on Jake and Hayden’s acting as much as I did before. Im going to start blaming their weak performance on shitty writing and directing.

Critics reviews just starting to come out. So far so good. 96% on Rotten Tomatoes so far.

The only thing negative that I've read is that it does slightly mirror Empire Strikes Back.

The planet battle is pretty cool with the colors, so is the shot for light speed battle.

Everything else was pretty meh.

I could def see complaints about too many ESB parallels.

Maybe if I hadn't seen Ragnarok a few weeks ago I would have been more forgiving but Ragnarok>>>This.

Another thing is most of the humor attempts are pure cheese in Last Jedi

Did not like that at all.

There’s three main plot threads. One is a chase sequence that lasts the entire film, one is a totally pointless sub-plot with moments that feel lifted from the prequels, and the other is the plot thread that everyone knows is truly important and it takes 4/5 of the film to really kick into gear.

And the Leia in space thing, the hell was that about?

Yes. This exactly. I'm a huge Star Wars fanboy and I was underwhelmed. Maybe I just went in expecting too much because I really loved The Force Awakens and Rogue One so I was thinking this would be on a similar level, but it wasn't. If the Phantom Menace is a 1 and the Empire Strikes Back is a 10, I'd give this a 5.5. Not bad, not great. Just okay. I'll post more in the other thread.
