I'll bitch about this.

our branding is horrible. most of the time simple/traditional is the right way to go, especially for a program trying to sell kids on a "rich heritage". let the low majors and mid majors go with gimmicky font/designs. I hate most of the stuff in the student store right now.

side note: I tried to have a simple red shirt made that just had "State Basketball" in collegiate lettering in white and the store told me that Adidas owns the right to the "State" and so they couldn't do it. no logos, no reference to NC State, just the word "State".

I don’t think this is gimmicky lettering/font. It’s just for consistency’s sake. So each team’s uniform has the same font. Instead of football font being different than basketball being different than soccer, etc. I generally agree that we have had some blunders and acts of idiocy when it comes to branding. I don’t really find this to be one.

University of Arizona has an official font that isn’t classic block letters.

Other than A in the lettering being a little different, it’s a pretty standard block letter font anyways. Not far off from Florida’s, which seems pretty classic.

with the white part supposed to represent teeth. just kinda dumb. not all schools need collegiate block lettering but I felt like our 1983 jerseys were just fine. I'd be fine going back to the older block S, too, but that's just me. long live the slobbering wolf.

This is sweet! I live in Miami and will try to go to the game against Vanderbilt. I got to go to the game at UM back in 2014 when Kyle Washington nearly gave the game away by missing key free throws then nearly fouling a guy on the 3/4 court heave. I believe someone told me that they saw my fist jump into the camera right at the end when I pumped it into the air as I was sitting half court right underneath the camera.

Logged on to talk some hoops as I got the itch after seeing if any pre-season top 25 rankings had us there. Found one by NBC but they didn’t note some of the grad transfers and still had Bey in the incoming players list. Can’t completely blame them though as I can barely remember who all is on the roster now and who left. I worry about rebounding this year and hope one of the big men can be as good as Dorn in rebounding. This roster has a lot of promise as for the first time in awhile it feels like we actually used all 13 scholarships. I like the fact that there will be a lot of competition in practice. Maybe we can even “platoon” some of the teams we face with our rotations so we constantly send in fresh bodies to wear them down on defense. I could see this team surprising and landing in the top 15 if everyone gels, mostly because of the veteran leadership from Markell, Torin and Braxton.

I’m optimistic as well but it’s hard for me to form many expectations without knowing much about these newcomers and not having seen them on the court together before. Obviously an NCAAT appearance is an expectation, and I think the depth of this roster will make for a fun season. Front court will definitely be one of our biggest unknowns.

Javi Gonzalez was way better than Marques Johnson. That guy couldn’t dribble, shoot, pass, or play defense. How he was a 4* player is beyond me. Possibly the most overrated player I have ever seen out on a State basketball uniform. Javi had some pretty monster games (he was on fire that Duke game and at the end of that Arizona game) and laid it all on the line each night. Él tenía ese corazón y pasión puertorriqueños.

just looked it up...i had no recollection of Ferguson playing 22 mins/game in 08-09. i have no memories of him doing anything. 22 mins/game and even started 8 games. i don't remember a single thing he ever did on the court.

Javi was definitely not good. Turnover machine who played really bad defense. I can't believe there are people in that thread who are talking about him being a good defender. He had moments that in a vacuum that looked great - I remember games where he'd get us back into the game late after being down by a lot, but most of that deficit was due to his half-assed defense and watching his guy shoot wide open shots. Oh, also we would still lose.

Marques Johnson didn't really play enough for me to hate him, probably because he was so bad. But I don't ever expect transfers to come in and do a damn thing.

And Trevor Ferguson might be the worst scholarship player I've ever seen. Including Adam Simons. He was a decent shooter, but he was bit even remotely competent at anything else.

I bet bullet is one of those people who think Vandenberg was decent.

he had to start because the other option was freshman beejay. and vandenberg was serviceable in that starting role. ideally is vandenberg an acc starter? no. but he was better than freshman beejay. and arguably, his senior year was better than any of beejay's 4 seasons.

Beejay won 6th man of the year one year. I'd say that's better than Vandy being surprisingly less shitty his senior year.
