McKay gets another chance since this was his first game on the road and against a P5 team but many more games like that and he will have to go. This is QB U after all, we have certain standards to uphold. How many times did he have passes batted down? And how many times did WVU run around the edge and get at least 8 yards? You would think we would start to know that play was coming. 9/14/2019 11:19:53 PM |

Thank God the beer was flowing in Mountaineers stadium. Otherwise I dunno what I would have done.
Fun town and friendly WVU fans (mostly), but holy fuck we played like hot garbage. 9/16/2019 9:22:04 AM |

I was awfully quiet because I couldn't watch the game. I know what poor QB play looks like, I saw Marcus Stone and Harrison Beck play. McKay isn't bad. And he isn't near the top of the list of problems with this team (this fucking shit defensive alignment and the playcalling are.) 3-3-5 is worse than Ryan Finley.
And lol Finley stared down his receiver every single play. Y'all are crazy for the amount of shit you're talking about a QB who has yet to commit a turnover.] 9/16/2019 10:37:54 AM |

Emezie had some really, really shitty drops too.
I thought the drop from Harmon/Meyers to Emezie/Thomas wouldn't be terrible but it's clearly a bigger drop than I expected.
Saturdays game was garbage, probably our worst half of offense since the bowl game or Clemson game last year, just nothing working at all.
We couldn't even execute some simple screen passes without the OL being completely useless, so I'm just hoping our coaching staff can learn a lot from this game and clean it up before ACC play starts. 9/16/2019 10:41:50 AM |

I think losing Riley was a huge blow. Thomas is never going to be anything more than a slot receiver who finds soft spots in zones and gets open. The drop-off from Riley to Carter is large.
Also this OL is struggling in pass protection. McKay isn't getting the pristine pocket that Finley enjoyed. 9/16/2019 10:45:38 AM |

I think losing our OC and Oline coach, and promoting 2 guys who dont know how to be OCs is our biggest issue. 9/16/2019 10:47:13 AM |

I agree that McKay isn’t the biggest issue. It’s easy and lazy to blame it all on QB play. And QB play was a definite problem Saturday. I don’t mean to diminish it. But OL, defense, play calling were all more concerning to me. 9/16/2019 10:54:13 AM |

That was a game of cheap shots. It was mostly West Virginia, but we were doing it too. I get to a point of we were brought down to their level, but our discipline needs to improve.
The 1st half was pretty even, and then we just died offensively the 2nd half. We get this huge interception down 7 in the 3rd, proceed to do nothing with the ball, and settle for the FG. Don't score rest of game. Defense...West Virginia mostly moved the ball at will.

^Boletepeli was out.
I get we have a new QB coach, OL coach, and new co-OCs. But I think people just aren't giving enough credit to the fact that we're replacing a TON of starters on offense. We're not at the level of immediate reload yet, still going to be a slight rebuild even with the uptick in recruiting the last couple of years.
Changing staff hurts but so does changing personnel, and everyone is still figuring things out and making adjustments.
Defense was the bigger problem on Saturday, hoping that can get our 3 starters back soon but McCloud isn't listed on depth chart this week so guess his injury is a little more serious. 9/16/2019 1:18:38 PM |

Yeah, Boletepeli isn't our 2nd best DL.
I'm firmly in the 3-3-5 is a shit defense that only works in the big 12 camp. Our best position group is DL (not LB, not DB) and we're limiting their effectiveness by stitching to this scheme. 9/16/2019 1:38:30 PM |

This, if you can't see that play calling was the problem along with lazy O line play, you shouldn't be allowed in CF.
Also, the 3-3-5 Blows dicks. Running against it is easier than counting to 39/16/2019 2:01:19 PM |

Thank God, if only they had made that move earlier in the game. 8, Smith sucked it up in coverage. WVU made it a point to throw at him and it worked.
now, if we can move past the 3-3-5 bc Clemson is going to have 500 rushing yards on it. 9/17/2019 12:49:55 PM |

If we didn't abandon the 3-3-5 against the team that's run and practiced against it for the last 4 or 5 years, we're NOT going to abandon it now.
I really hoped we'd mix in the 4-2-5 with some 3-3-5 looks, but so far it's been 3-3-5 or bust. 9/17/2019 1:22:08 PM |

I think there's this mindset that college players are largely retarded, and without tons of repetitions and individual coaching they can't make the right decision in all those scenarios.
After seeing our inability to understand how to stop those sweeps... Maybe they're on to something 9/17/2019 7:47:48 PM |
