Went to the game yesterday. The offense looks really good, we definitely made some massive upgrades with McCall/Waters/Joly/Rogers/Grimes/etc. We will have an elite offense and even if Gibson somehow can’t put out another top-tier defense (if anyone can it’s him) we are still gonna beat nearly everyone we play just with those dudes putting up a ton of points.

Other than the end of the half when they let one of the GiGi’s playhouse kids run it into the end zone (completely untouched!!1), they were going at it hard. The offense, thanks to the skill position guys, is most definitely miles ahead of what we’ve had in years past.

Well that's a new one... I guess they're one of our most historic opponents: 6th in all-time meetings, at 60, behind Wake Forest (117), North Carolina (113), Clemson (91), Duke (85), and Maryland (71). Which is a bit more impressive when you consider we only faced UVA 5 times before 1944, and 10x prior to 1958. After meeting nearly every year from 1958-2003, we've faced the Cavs only 7x since the creation of divisions.

I hope we make a similar arrangement with Wake Forest, despite their fuckery, just for the history of it.

Not sure where dmspack saw it, but I haven't seen confirmation of the OOC game on any NC State sources. I did find it from UVA: https://virginiasports.com/virginia-football-future-schedules/

I don’t have strong feelings about uva. It’s more fun to me to play local/regional teams so in that sense I guess I’d rather play Uva OOC than Rutgers. But it doesn’t really move the needle for me at all.

Weirdly this shows us with 5 OOC opponents after UVa. ECU, App, Campbell, Notre Dame…and now UVA. And in 2026 it’s Florida, Richmond, Vandy, App and now UVA.

Ecu and App are clearly a level above Campbell. FBS vs FCS.

Campbell’s stadium holds 5500.

Ecu and Apps stadiums could at least accommodate a game vs State.

I get the downside to playing App or ECU, especially on the road. But playing at Campbell is clearly not the same thing.

I saw a QB ranking that put Mccall as #2 in the conference which I, of course, think is perfectly justified, if one spot too low, and not at all wildly speculative/optimistic for a QB coming from outside P5 that had a rough year last year.
