my left hip is killing me. it feels like it's going to fall out of socket at any moment while walking. i've tried walking slowly to figure out exactly when the pain is triggered & if i could somehow limp to avoid it, but it doesn't seem to matter much what i do. it's a sharp, quick pain though so when i take a step it kinda makes me walk funny just bc it hurts so much. the first time it happened i was at home & got stuck standing in the middle of the kitchen. the pain came & went for several days & now it's a daily thing for the most part. i'm not sure what else to do besides take tylenol (which doesn't do much). i HAVE to walk.

my nails...they are so strong! I love prenatal vitamins!

10 weeks pregnant this week. Feeling pretty good. The start of the week was kind of rough b/c the stomach flu was going around my office and I caught a little bit of it. Still haven't gotten sick. Just felt icky. I'm not as tired as I've been the past few weeks. Much better now. Constantly hungry. PopChips are like my drug right now. I got a huge assortment from Amazon.

Babies cry. Sometimes you can do something about it. Sometimes you can't. I don't think they're suggesting to let your 3 year old cry in a 5 star restaurant. I think it's the idea that if your infant is crying in a grocery store, and you can't do anything about it, it's not the end of the world.

Apparently when I was an itty bitty baby I cried every where in public. I'd be fine at grandma's and at home but my folks would go out somewhere and infant Caroline would cry and cry. My mom constantly reminds me of all the dinners she had to eat out in the car with me while everyone else got to enjoy the restaurant. I'm prepared to be like my mom someday if I have a baby like that.

Once they're eating solids you just keep a thing of cheerios or crackers around and you're good. Before then, not much you can do if they don't take a pacifier and don't suck their thumbs (like mine).

That's how my little sister was. My parents just gave up and didn't go out unless they could get grandma to babysit. Wasn't worth the stress I guess.

So I know I should want the baby to stay in as long as possible but I have totally hit the GET THIS KID OUT OF ME stage.

She does flips at least 18 hours a day. In the last week, the serious swelling has begun. I cannot even describe how tired I am chasing a toddler, working full time (mostly on my feet), and my normal chores. I feel like I am going to keel over every waking second.

There goal was to get me to 37 weeks and that is still 5 weeks away.....I am going to DIE.

we're letting them pick, kinda. my mom wants to be called gigi, although that's what my little cousins call their great grandma. for some reason that doesn't bother mom, who has been saying the whole time she's not old enough to be a grandparent. i don't get it. anyway, dad chose poppi (he insisted on the I instead of Y).

my SIL's kids call my husband's parents gong & ma (khmer or chinese for grandpa & grandma). i'm okay w/ gong. i don't like ma (bc it's too much like ma/mom/momma/etc). i'm not sure how we'll handle that.

Grandparents picked, but we (and they, most importantly) know that whatever he ends up calling him will be what he calls them.

I like what my parents picked: Gigi and Pau Pau. My inlaws are Memommy and Grandpa. I'm not the biggest fan of Memommy (yes, for selfish reasons of "but I'm the mommy!"...picking my battles here), but her grandmother was called Mommy Dot so it's a tribute to her (another reason to not make a fuss over it).

^glad i'm not the only one with reservations of the mom-type nicknames for grandmothers. i'm hoping he'll call her something else

so i'm not a germophobe, but i was for the cover b/c not only are carts and public high chairs gross but also the cover looks like a fluffy cloud and might make em a bit more comfortable. so we didn't register for it, but i asked for one at christmas as he was nearing the age of sitting up.

it is the biggest pain in the ass to use.

you want mine? right now it's collecting dust and dog hair in the back of my car it's the number print.

When my niece was teething, she would chow down on anything she was sitting around. So, it was nice to have the cover so she wasn't nomming on some grocery cart bars.

I'm in the "being exposed to germs helps build immune system" camp. My wife loves the cover. I don't care enough to make a big deal out of it. You do have to wash it after pretty much every use or it'll be just as nasty as a public chair.

I user the cart cover for my baby's comfort. Depending on how early you sit them in the cart, they're not too steady and can bump around. The cover cushions some of those noggin knocks. And teething. While not a germaphobe, I don't want my child chewing on a shopping cart. I use mine all the time. Buy a simple one like a floppy seat so it's not so aggravating to use. I also like having something to attach a toy to so they stay occupied.

The Infantino seat cover that I had was kinda fitted and took some finagling to get onto the cart properly. A Floppy Seat is large enough that you kinda drape it over the cart and buckle the safety belt. But there really isn't a huge difference. Maybe you're just impatient.

Right now I'm using a Taggie's seat cover. Amelia is totally fixated on tags, so it keeps her content for as long as I need in the store or at a restaurant. But my biggest issue is her chewing on the cart. In the last 2-3 weeks, she's had 5 teeth come in.

My mom is Gigi and my dad is poppa.....My mom didn't care and wanted my son to pick something out so I just said Gigi and he could say it before he said mama and she didn't mind. My dad picked Poppa.

For my husband's parents his grandmother is Granny and has 27 grandkids....my husband's mom wanted to be Granny. I thought it would be overly confusing but I didn't say anything since he would have 2 Grannys. Thanksgiving he called my husband's father peepaw instead of Grandpa and it has stuck. So my MIL said she would be meemaw but my son calls her Minnie. She HATES it but it has stuck for now.

^i was just thinking it should be very soon for you. I would have bh between appts and have had no change in dilation. I sat at 1cm for 1 wk. 1.5 for 2 wks. And my final appt I was at 3. Water broke 5 days after that.

I called my maternal grandparents Meemaw and Peepaw for the longest time, then switched to Grandma and Grandpa as I got older. I call my stepdads parents Meme and Papa Ski (everyone calls him Ski since his last name is Wojociechowski and people always screw it up). I call my paternal grandmother Granny and my paternal great grandmother Granny Avery - it definitely gets confusing. :/

Oh, and my maternal great grandmother was Grandma Cooter I have no idea how the name came about

My grandma is mamaw, and my great grandma was "mamaw choo-choo" because she lived near railroad tracks and we'd always walk over to watch trains when i visited her. I called her that until the day she died (I was in college)

My dad's mom was officially Grandma B. and then Granny because I saw her everyday.
My dad's dad died when I was 2 so I didn't have a name for him.
My mom's mom was Grandma Hyssong, she didn't like that the other grandma got to be granny most of the time but that's how it worked for me and my sister
And my mom's step-dad was Pop-pop Ed

My parents are Grandma and Pop-pop

There are no Nanas or anything really different in my family

the cat genie is awesome at first...until it backs up then bakes the poop still in the litter. it is the worst nonlivestock-generated smell ever.

or when it overflows. that's awesome too. especially if you have company over.

this was just 1 cat, normal sized poop & frequency. nothing the machine shouldn't be able to handle.

So I have decided to unpack the pack and play and clean it up. I just have to find the sheets. I figure at 33 weeks pregnant I should start preparing/acting like a kid might be coming. My son was born at 34 weeks and we had no where for him to sleep. Plus I have packed the hospital bag (something I did not have last time).

I will feel good if I actually get my act together and preregister.

On a side note, I will be 37 weeks the last week of May. It looks like I will change insurance providers June 1 as work is changing their insurance. It appears my care up will be split up so I am risking going through 2 deductibles. Do you think it would be weird to see if they would just go ahead and deliver me that week?

OMG...preregistration was online this time....I am already done. Shame on me for not doing it earlier.

(The one big advantage I like was that the baby automatically shows up on the rounds for his doctor. So I saw the same doctors in the hospital that I see now at his monthly appts. There was one on rounds for 2 nights that remembers my son even now from the special care nursery.)
