and that was the point. we don';t have the depth, so they call a shit ton of fouls all over. it only hurts us. the last 5 minutes of the game were completely determined by the first 2 minutes of the 2nd half, where the refs loaded our starters up with bullshit fouls. I've never before believed a game was fixed, but this one sure as fuck was

Fuck it, that was some of the worst officiating I've ever seen! You can't say we melted in the second half and that's it...like it's in some kind of vacuum where the refs don't exist. We were playing soft defensively because everyone on the WHOLE FUCKING TEAM was about to FOUL THE FUCK OUT. Worst display of officiating I've seen since coincidentally Duke got jobbed in their loss to UCONN in the NC game way back whenever the fuck it was. You don't get it. We can't play any defense when our guys have 4 fouls and get a foul called for LOOKING at the other team. We can't play offense when we can't play our starters because they have 4 fouls for looking at the other team. We can't get rebounds when we can't put our hands in the air for fear of picking up the fifth foul, nor when Duke can go over the back on every shot with impunity. The entire collapse was precipitated by 4 bullshit foul calls in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half.

As much as I think Howell is a moron with his cheap fouls, that last one they called on him was about as far from a foul as I could tell. Hands up sliding his feet WELL in front of (whoever that was) the ball handler. That one simply wasn't a foul.

don't blame the refs? fuck that. it might not even be on purpose, maybe they are just programmed to do it after all this time, but god damn if acc refs don't smoke some coach k pole. he gets exactly what he needs from the refs. opponent has depth issues? the game gets called ticky tack. duke has depth issues? let em play. need a run after a slow first half? a billion foul calls in the first few minutes. the total fouls were even, but on duke it was perfectly spread out. we have three players foul out. there are too many coincidences there to chalk up to "coaching"
