Is it? 2nd and long, I'd expect a pass play. I could see why a coach would call a run, try to catch their D off guard. Maybe get a 6-7 yard gain, stare at 3rd and 5. We all know what we would do if we had the benefit of hindsight. The results suck, but it wasn't a terrible playcall.

I just hate their fans so much.

I want to rip their noses off their faces. I can't really say why. That's just the thought I can't get out of my head right now, just getting up in there in the nostrils and somehow tearing the whole nose off.

I'm trying to shift to something more conventional, like stabbing in the stomach. But I really can't stop thinking about this nose thing.

No, it was a solid call. They'd already proven they could get a 2pt conversion. Getting the game to 8 means that State has to score AND get a 2pt conversion afterwards. If the game's only at 6 then, well, State still has to score a TD.

If it's a 7 then it puts the option in State's hands whether or not to go for one or two, Fedora was just taking the choice away.

this is one of the more memorable depressing losses in recent history…ranking closely behind akron from years back and BC from last year…still can't believe the gutless playcalling and seemingly lack of concern from the entire team in the fourth quarter…i am pretty sure everyone saw this coming once we stomped on the brakes to run the clock…lets just start over, TOB is mid sixties, we aren't going to do anything unless he fires coordinators, i really hope DY has some influence on this decision in the offseason

I wouldn't put this on the refs, we got a lot of good calls, even the fumble. This is all on trying to run the clock out with a 10 point lead at the start of the 4th quarter when your running game is shit

I too am done with NC State football. I will not allow such an inconsistent and cowardly program to represent me.

Ten minutes ago I had a real life moment. Something snapped and I transcended WAY beyond blind fury.

I feel good now. We are never going to change. Never. I will not be tricked yet again. This really is D day. Criteria for caring again: consistency. Even if we consistently suck. That would be preferrable to me .

That line of thinking is fine when you are on your own side of the 50 yard line. When you are in the red zone, plays that are not designed to get a first down or score a TD are plays explicitly designed to play it safe and kick a field goal.

Let's say he gained 7 yards and it was 3rd and 6 from the 12. You aren't going to run and the field has gotten 7 yards shorter making the real estate UNC has to cover smaller. Also you now only have one shot at a first down or a score.

I say fuck a field goal (coincidentally what the kicker was thinking too). Play with killer instinct and give Glennon 2 chances to make plays he had been making all game long.

Haven't read anything else in the thread so I'm sure it's been mentioned, but even after there was that phantom fumble that I still have no idea how it got overturned and dropping an absurd amount of passes we still had the game in control. Once we got the momentum TOB decided to put the shackles on our offense and threw Washington in for crucial situations. Absolutely inexcusable type of game.

I was at both of these games. I don't even know why I am still a State fan. I guess when you have this disappointment, the occasional consolation win or NCAA run is that much sweeter.

I have no clue what the Refs were looking at when they overturned the play from out TE and called a fumble. Also, the play by play announcer was terrible, screwed up so many things, and seemed to have too much joy in his voice for me when talking about UNC.

The refs are not to blame for our loss. We could have gotten 2 personal fouls for late hits, but the refs let us play on.
We should have kept protecting Glennon and stuck to the passing game. Fire TOB.
