ugh first Nordstrom is on my shit list and now ideeli is too!

the Nordstrom issue is discussed in the wedding planning thread. i'm waiting to hear back from their customer service.

so the shoes i ordered from ideeli claimed to be delivered today by UPS. Funny because something i had ordered from Nordstrom last week came through UPS as well and came this evening but yeah no ideeli order. And on the UPS website it says it was delivered! so now i have an email pending with ideeli to see if they can help me track down where my package went because UPS claims it was delivered but it was never.

another note, the pants i ordered from Nordstrom are really cute

^ Maybe it will arrive today. Sometimes ideeli's delivery reporting seems off to me. Though since they use USPS, which tends to track well, there's no telling. Bummer, bummer and bummer!

I went ideeli crazy last night.

Gift for bf's mom (she's also getting a cashmere robe):

Something pretty for boudoir pics:

Pretty top for layering:

Pencil skirt for work:

Wool coat for London:

New running shoes to keep at the other house:

Darn you ideeli! So much temptation, but I did need new clothes and the damage was only $139.89 for everything.

I also love that jacket

I'm going to start plundering Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and pay more attention to Ideeli once we're through the holidays. I feel like I'm slipping in to candidacy for "What Not To Wear"--"after my child was born it was just hard to get dressed properly...and I wear my hair in a ponytail b/c he pulls at my hair all the time when I wear it down"

Though I am trying to experiment with updos to make it a bit more fancy so I feel more put together. Like I've started braiding the sides in to my ponytail. And I saw this style on pinterest yesterday that I would like to try

Lucy, did everything work out with bf and his mom?

and that's impressive for only spending about $140!!

OK, ladies. I need help on what to get my beau for Christmas. I'll probably have to make something because I don't have much money do you think it would be easy to make one of those love kits? What type of paint does it use? I was also wondering if I should make a really nice dinner for him, but at the same time I did that last year... I know for sure he's getting an hour long back massage. Should I make some really awesome cupcakes? :\

Okay so two announcements!

Check out what the hubby got me for my Birthday this year. YAY!!!

Also, I tried fake eyelashes this weekend at my Birthday party for the first time ever. I had to do the pouty face to go with the lashes. LOL

They were super fun!

Lucy - I pretty much love EVERYTHING you posted. GG!

I would go with more dramatic makeup if you're going to go with falsies that dramatic. They just seem to overpower everything else on your face.

and holy shit that necklace is like BAM

actually you don't go as dramatic if you're going to show off the lashes, unless you want to look like a stripper

you should do subtle eyeshadow and maybe a little heavier liner so you don't see where the lashes are applied, and let the lashes speak for themselves

This is a good example...neutral shades but not too dramatic

Its like when you're dressing. You pick one part to accentuate and then tone the rest down...so if you go heavy eyes, go neutral blush & lips, etc.

I think we all need a little DivaBaby in our pocket to tell us when our makeup looks like a hooker, or our clothes don't match. Maybe you should market a DivaBaby app.

The kit is something like $40, but you can get the stuff from Michaels for cheaper than that I bet. You just want non-toxic paint. Test it on your skin first, etc. You need a painting tarp or sheet, then you put the canvas down on top of that. You'll need paint, and the kit comes with booties so you don't get paint on the floor on the way to the bathroom. And some kind of abrasive body wash to get the paint off.

The expensive part is the mounting/framing. But if you do that yourself, it'll run you $20-$30. Quotes from stores were as expensive as $120.

I could see you planning a really nice evening with the dinner, and then have fun with the Love is Art kit and a shower, then have after shower cupcakes. Sounds like a great night to me!

^ I like that timeline

I have stretched a canvas myself before, so that'll be ok - I think I could build the frame myself, too. Thanks

Now... for a holiday dress. Thoughts on these?

those are in order from most favorite to least favorite - I loveeeeee that black one, but I'm also really drawn to that red one. I would just be worried the red one would end up being fairly short (although on me it would probably hit only right above the knee). I'm trying to branch out into more strapless dresses, especially since Rexkwando has started toning my upper body

I like the first one the most, the coal calm and collected.

my second favorite is the sparkle some romance one (last link)

it depends on your complexion though which one would suit you better

I love the third one! I am normally not a huge fan of celebratory black dresses just because everyone seems to wear them all the time and I prefer to be colorful, but I do think that is an awesome black dress.

I think the first one is more versatile and I can always jazz it up with some sparkly tights or something - but I do kind of want to branch out. I'm mainly worried about one of the strapless ones not having enough support or not giving enough coverage, OR being too short.

I sound like a puritan

[Edited on December 7, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Reason : Although, I did just realize the sparkles on the first dress are on sheer material]

no you don't, I do not like strapless dresses because I feel a little uncomfortable, which translates into my body language. Also I constantly feel like I have to adjust and I look fidgety. Also, I think the black one will get way more wear. But I still like the last one if you don't want a black dress, it has subtlety.

I'm just worried about the last one not fitting with my boobs, and I'm a little worried it would make me look washed out... I do like the sparkles though

The third one apparently has a built in bra and runs large in the bust... hmmmm, might have to consider that one!

so you are light skinned? what color is your hair? if you have a bold hair color, then I don't think it will wash you out. also you could consider a small cardigan in a bright color.

If your boobs are bigger than C cup than you may be pushing it, but I don't really know until I see it on sosmeone

^ Very true. I also think I could wear it to church, clinic, etc... I wanted something a little crazier for NYE, but I also don't want to buy two dresses. :\ I guess I could get a crazy bolero or like a tuxedo jacket?

where's a good place to get sparkly tights?

you can totally jazz up that dress with fun tights, a white tuxedo blazer with black lapels

I know spanx has sparkly tights (my fav), but I'm sure you can find them in other brands and department stores where you'll have more selection

you can do all black and then a fun and crazy shoe if you wanna add sparkle

oh then hit up a department store and get some HUE tights...they've been my favorite when trying to go for a big contrast...and they're super opaque which is nice

I have fuschia, turquoise, a mustard yellow, polka dots

I think a teal/turquoise is a lot of fun with black without being OH HEY Y'ALL I'M THE CRAZY GIRL

That is beautiful! I think it's worth the $$$ if the one you already have is high-quality. Though you may not want a redundancy in your wardrobe for such a bold pattern.
