random question for random Wolfwebbers:

So I recently got a new car, and I'm leaving town on Tuesday, not to return until January 6. And I'm not terribly keen on leaving my car in my apartment's parking lot (which is rather secluded), because scores of non-residents walk through it every day, and I'm afraid one of them will take it into his/her mind to vandalize/steal my car (particular if I put a cover on it, as I intend to do, and thereby advertise that its owner is out of town.)

So I was thinking I might park it at my (graduate thesis) adviser's house. Now, my adviser is the nicest guy, and I've been to his house numerous times. But I feel like I should have asked if I could leave the car in his driveway (which has ample room; it wouldn't be a physical inconvenience at all) several weeks ago, rather than waiting until three days before I was going to leave. So my question is: would you be annoyed/offended if a friend made this request of you three days before he was scheduled to leave town? Would you find it inconsiderate that he had waited so long to ask?

I am borderline autistic when it comes to social niceties, so I thought I'd see what you guys' view was. And I apologize for any ridiculousness inherent in this post.

^^ I would say waiting until the morning of your trip would be pushing it, but it's just a parking spot and it shouldn't take him long to decide one way or another. If he is as nice as you say he is, then it probably won't even cross his mind.

He only was able to make two phone calls on the satellite phone for this trip...and the first call was to me to tell me he loves me and that he caught 3 giants! I'm super tickled about him catching almost 1000 lbs of fish...but it's the little things and knowing that I'm the first person he wants to talk to when he is able to make a phone call really means a lot to me.

I thought I was strong enough to move this dresser a few inches by myself, but as it turns out I am not. Likely I would have ended up breaking something, on me or the dresser. This thing is going to be a bitch to get out of here when we move.
