God I fucking love Tom O'Brien. Does he ever say the wrong thing?

"What does four consecutive victories mean for this team?"
"It means we have to win five."

haha, not possible. clemson would have been 4-3, BC 4-2 and we're 3-3. BC is clemson's last ACC game so at worse, clemson would be 4-4 and BC would be 5-2 going into the miami game. Even if BC loses to miami, they have the tie breaker over us.

on the bottom of the pile there was a carolina guy like holding down one of our guys by his facemask, and pulling him around and stuff"

That's similar to when Eugene did a little shoving after being tackled in the second half. When they showed the replay, one of the Carolina defenders had his hand around Eugene's neck while they were on the ground.

Bob Lee Swagger, the Tar Hole that famously name the student parking lot F-Bomb Alley, posted a article about the game and the tailgating. He called out his fellow Tar Hole fans for constantly blaming every loss they have on the refs. The refs didn't cost them the game, their 12 yards rushing is what cost them the game, even after we spotted them 14 points.

You know whats funny as shit about them bitching about the no-calls at the end of the game?

...other than the fact that its about god damn time the refs didnt give the game to them....or the fact that in the 3rd quarter we got ass raped by the refs about 5 times (dont get me started on that roughing/at least running into the kicker no-call)

...if the refs call those 2 pass interference, we're bitching the other way about how they gave the game to UNC. I've talked to a bunch of hole fans AND neutral fans who say that the call actually could have gone as offensive PI on that 4th down. The receiver initiated the contact by shoving sutton into the endzone then it was an even fight for the ball after that. It was a GREAT no call, especially considering what we've had to put up with in the past from Jim Knight and Rick Page.

guys we've forgotten the most important thing here

NC State ACTUALLY won a NOON GAME ON RAYCOM.. at home, WITH RON CHERRY AS THE REFEREE

this game sorta changed my opinion on noon games. early season noon games = ftl
late season noon games = ftw

as much as i wanted that to be a roughing the kicker call, the no call was absolutely 100% the right call after watching the replay on tv (no ticket to the game ).

the cold noon games are indeed much better than the hot as balls noon games. they actually feel like football.

i still greatly prefer night, though.

first half of the season should be all night games

maybe the last two games or so when it is in the 30s and gusting at night should be noon games, because even if it is just as cold the sun does wonders for keeping you warmer

^whats funny is that on their scout board theres a thread that says something like "UNC Band and Fans ROCKED their stadium"

in that thread some of them go on to state that they were loud and that the refs had to shut the band up because they were giving the team too much "momentum" and that State fans around their section would sometimes stop and watch in "awe"

actually, we were talking at the game about how pathetic the UNC fan turnout was

if you're really all hyped up and want to support your new coach, you could at least put some people in the seats at a stadium not even half an hour away

kudos to the season ticket holders who didn't give up their tickets to UNC fans, i was so glad that there were almost no UNC fans in season ticket holder seats, except for the 6-8 fuckers behind me

that is fanfuckingtastic

it starts out as a possible discussion, then a couple digs at state & duke, then an all out battle royale of a theological discussion

did the local synod hack the IC website or something?

and as is typical for any UNC discussion, EVERYONE know only they are right, and if you don't agree you're wrong, and they all act holier than thou till their mom sends them to bed so they can get up in time to work the morning rush at starbucks.

i've waited since i got here... until my senior year... for saturday to finally happen.
all the things that have happened in my life lately, including a break up after 2 years...
honestly i just lost it for 10 minutes after we stopped that last play.

if anyone on the team ever reads this, or any of the coaches: thank you.

Please. Watch the replay.

That being said, I have never been on the edge of my seat like that for a football game. I was watching it alone at my house, and I swear my neighbors knew exactly what was going on at every point of the game, lol.

Quote :
"The N.C. State and UNC football teams clashed Saturday as the heated rivalry hit the gridiron, but some fans took the intensity off the playing field.

The Marching Tar Heels faced a hostile crowd in Carter-Finley Stadium when they took the field, and UNC's campus was victim to vandalism before the matchup.

Members of the Marching Tar Heels band said N.C. State fans were rude, harassing them with boos and obscene language.

"I was just really disappointed in their fans," said Ivey Locklear a sophomore member of the Marching Tar Heels. "They were all caught up in the rivalry, so we weren't sure what they would do."

Laura Kenny, who portrays Ms. Wuf, one of NCSU's mascots, said the atmosphere between the mascots was friendly even though the cheering included a reported "fight" between UNC's Rameses and N.C. State's Mr. Wuf that she broke up.

"It was all in good fun," she said. "We were just joking around."

She said the problems came when UNC's band performed at halftime. Fans responded negatively because NCSU fans weren't expecting the Marching Tar Heels to perform.

"We had no idea," Kenny said. "Normally we don't have any visiting team perform. We were just taken aback by it."

Despite the reception by the fans, Locklear said the N.C. State band was a good host.

Other aspects of the rivalry hit UNC's campus before the game even started. Between Thursday night and Friday morning, an incident of painting graffiti on advertising cubes in front of the Student Union occurred, according to University police reports.

References in black to N.C. State were spray painted over the cubes.

To secure N.C. State's campus during the game, officials had usual measure in place, along with an augmented level of security. Sgt. Donovan Brickhouse, the on-duty supervisor for the N.C. State Campus Police, called it "the same game plan, just more officers."

He added that there were about 15 extra officers at the football stadium who did sweeps of the stands before kickoff and who manned posts throughout the stadium to ward off intoxicated tailgaters and regulate ticket scalpers.

Two students from NCSU were arrested for unspecified charges Saturday following UNC's 31-27 loss in Raleigh, Brickhouse said.

He said arrest reports will be forthcoming in the next week.

Brickhouse did not attend the game, but he said he received a briefing afterward from Sgt. Edward Farmer, the coordinating officer for public safety at the football game.

"From what he advised me this morning, it was more tame this year than in years past.""

Quote :
"Boo me all you want, Wolfpack fans. When I walk through your student tailgating section wearing baby blue, hiss until your heart's content.

You can issue the "dose of class" we UNC fans need (as noted by N.C. State Technician columnist Benton Sawrey on Friday). I understand and appreciate rivalry - it's what makes college football so great … so boo away.

But what I experienced on Saturday afternoon went far beyond my daily dose of humility.

Walking around the fairgrounds I continually was approached and told (comments such as) "Go back to Brokeback Mountain." Not for taunting or teasing the red storm but for just walking by in a blue shirt.

And the Wolfpack's comments weren't contained to me. They were hurled at a young elementary school-age boy and at an elderly couple. I was chased down inside Carter-Finley by two young Wolfpack gentlemen in front of my mother (who was wearing Wolfpack colors) to be told to go (expletive) myself.

Maybe we UNC fans could use a dose of humility, but maybe some State fans could use a dose of class.

I will deny into the ground that I was stereotypically born with a silver spoon in my mouth. But I would rather be thought of as a stuck-up Carolina girl than a classless State fan any day of the week … and that includes game day.

Ah, the old "we would have never done that" article.

Seems like the losing team is always confined to comforting themselves in some imagined moral "at least we have class" victory.
