their header that went over the bar with just a few minutes left was clearly offsides. if they had scored that i would have truly been irate.

[Edited on October 11, 2009 at 12:02 AM. Reason : almost as irate as i was before thier PK. ]

^Agreed!

Quote :

So should have Davies. So Should have Bocanegra.

Great game by Casey and Donovan both! Donovan with a goal and an assist while Casey scored 2 goals and drew a foul that led to the Donovan goal.

Thank God I have soccer. Men beat Duke in OT and the US qualifies for the World Cup with a game to go. It starts to make up for an otherwise really bad day.

^^That's what I said before the game. I would have been pissed, if both my teams lost today. That was an entertaining game. A 3-2 final with plenty of close misses by both teams.

btw, so far we are 1 of 2 teams to have not lost at El Salvador and the only team to have won at Honduras.

gay that argentina even won their game....something like the 94th minute i think martin palermo scored in....i remember seeing that guy play and picking him up on one of my soccer games back in like 2001...and he was like 28-29 then....wtf kind of manager has that old of a player at striker on that team when they have about 35 other strikers in europe who are better. what a lucky ass break for the worst national team manager of any nation right now. i mean jesus, i can name 2 strikers to start for them right now and would prob get me some results: aguero, tevez. give me the argentina job now plz, lol. im hoping they lose to uruguay and someone else behind them wins and passes them and knocks them out of the WC. argentina do not deserve to go to the wc, i dont care how much history they have.

what an awesome game... it was a lot of fun watching it at the Honduran restaurant, they were all pretty cool fans. I'm pulling for them to make it in over Costa Rica

Conor Casey's first goal probably should have been a foul but the Honduras second looked offside so I guess it cancels out. I'm still not a fan of Casey - he had a very clinical finish for the second but I thought he was very average the entire first half - but I'll give Bradley some huge credit for gambling on him because it definitely paid off and Altidore was garbage when he came on for Casey.

Donovan definitely earned his Man-don card last night, he was far and away our best player - his assist on Casey's goal was beautiful and the free kick was nasty.

^^^He will probably be happy if they fail to make it because then he would have more time for junk food and drugs.

UEFA scenarios

There are 9 groups and the top 8 2nd place finishers go to the UEFA playoffs. Since group 9 has 1 less team they will not count the points earned by any 2nd place finisher vs the last place finisher in group 1 through 8, but those points will count towards finishing second in the group.

With 1 round to go
Ukraine 15
Slovenia 14
France 14
Russia 14
Portugal 13
Greece 13
Bosnia-Herzegovina 13
Rep. Ireland 13
Norway 10 (finished playing & eliminated)

I'm sure most of you had this figured out, but I hadn't really looked at it. The second place finishers in groups 1-8 will make the playoffs.

OFC vs AFC Playoff

Bahrain 0 New Zealand 0

yea split in half pretty much. he's lucky to be alive. i hope he makes a quick recovery, but looking at the car, the person in the car who died, and that he was in surgery for 3+ hours, it doesn't bode well. I just hope he ends up being ok.

^That is good to hear. We could have used him in the World Cup. If he broke his leg then he will have to sit out long enough that he won't be ready for the World Cup in less than a year.

Oh my God, that SUV is torn right in half and crushed. It's an absolute miracle anyone lived through that. Who cares about soccer, I just hope he is able to make a full recovery. Though, I'd like to see him play again, of course...
