I hope the new Alu album is as awe-inspiring as 2008's Lobotomy Sessions.

I only got to listen to a couple of them before they got taken down, and the quality was absolute shit, but it sounded like they could actually be a little promising. Not getting my hopes up, though. Lesson learned long ago on that.

Pat Wilson (Weezer) has started posting on the allthingsweezer.com forums every now and then. Some of my favorite gems:

Quote :
"I think In The Mall sucks balls."

Quote :
"My favorite Brian story:
Brian calls in a scratchy voice and says he can't make vocal rehearsal because he scratched his esophagus on a piece of toast.

I say, "well I guess we can't rehearse then"
He says in healthy voice, "ok cool man I'll see u later""

Quote :
"People come away quite satisfied with the shows and I'm pleased. I mean, let's put this in perspective. If people have a problem with the records, there's not much I can do about that. There's not very many bands from the early nineties that are still around and fewer still that get boardies wound up about failing to live up to their potential. Dare I say that we're unique in our ability to maintain loyal albeit malcontent fans?"

Quote :
"I think a lot of people here will quite like the songs on Hurley, there aren't any songs in the vein of GGH/I'm Your Daddy/Can't Stop Partying
Someone mentioned LeBron James, I liken Raditude to Micheal Jordan playing baseball."

Quote :
"Well, there is a school of thought that prefers to have me on the drums and I'm flattered when people tell me that. At the time of Raditude, Rivers had decided to focus more on interacting with the crowd and there was a period where I would be sort of a Jimmy Page to his Robert Plant (lol) but that kind of died in favor of the Dr. Luke/Can't Stop Partying/I'm Your Daddy approach. (more lol)
"

Quote :
"I enjoy the type of modern =w= like Miss Sweeney, Angel and the One, Greatest Man, Dreamin', Prettiest Girl..... etc. "

New Weezer leaked. It is...hearteningly decent. Definitely worth a listen. There is feedback reminiscent of Pinkerton.

I'm halfway through. It's better than Raditude but not as good as the best moments of the Red Album.

recently i realized that the people who keep talking about weezer are just kind of like how i am with billy corgan. i know his best days have long since passed, but i keep listening to his new stuff year after year knowing that he'll never make another siamese dream, or even adore, but i still continue to hang on to the hope that he still has another "soma" or "starla" in him somewhere.

I think that is a part of it. The other part is all of the older related stuff that they keep releasing (Alone, Pinkerton DE, etc), and the other part (and probably the biggest) is just how fascinating it all is, because you have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE what direction they will take next and what personality Rivers will take on next.

by what personality he'll take on next do you mean to say you're interested in seeing how much more of an insufferable douchey loser he can become?

I don't see how he is any of those things at the moment. More like laid back father and husband who wants nothing more than to have fun and collaborate with random pop stars.

Which could be the problem, as his greatest works came when he was an insufferable douchey loser.

i think that can be said about a lot of artists, but it's like rivers tries so hard to be this wacky dork, and it's just incredibly lame. case in point

too bad the snuggie fad was pretty much long over by the time that aired too.

"hey guys wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if we performed wearing snuggies!?"

and unfortunately, as much as i love paul shaffer, he loves anything remotely close to being considered music so much that he'll play with anyone. the guy would laugh and clap his hands if someone handed him an album of nothing but fart noises.

To distract from the new Weezer stuff...

Pinkerton Deluxe and Alone 3 (maybe packaged together):

Quote :

13: Waiting On You
14: I Just Threw Out The Love of My Dreams
15: The Good Life (acoustic)
16: Pink Triangle (acoustic)
17: You Won't Get With Me Tonight
18: Tragic Girl
19: I Swear It's True

20: The Good Life
21: El Scorcho
22: Pink Triangle
23: Why Bother?
24: El Scorcho
25: Pink Triangle
26: The Good Life
27: The Good Life (Radio Remix)
28: Pink Traingle (Radio Remix)
29: Getting Up And Leaving (Alternate Take)
30: Longtime Sunshine (Alternate Take)
31: Blue vs. Pinkerton inverview
32: El Scorcho (Live Acoustic 1996)
33: Tired of Sex (Rough Take)
34: Getchoo (Rough Take)
35: Across the Sea (Piano Noodles(?))
36: Butterfly (Alternate Take)
37: I'm So Lonely (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
38: Getchoo (Rives Pinkerton Demo)
39: Lisa (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)

46: Waiting On You (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
47: Oh No, This Is Not For Me (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
48: Tired of Sex (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
49: She's Had A Girl (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
50: What Is This I Find? (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
51: Now I Finally See (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
52: Longtime Sunshine (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
53: I'm Lonely On A Saturday Night (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
54: Oh God I'm Hungry (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
55: I'm On Fire, You Are A Liar (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
56: The End of My String (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
57: I Can't Break Your Heart (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
58: Money Makes Me Happy (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
59: My Mind's On You (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
60: Defeat on the Hill (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)
61: Clarinet Waltz (Rivers Pinkerton Demo)

As far as I can tell, this includes every known unreleased Pinkerton and Songs from the Black Hole track, meaning anyone who has been holding out all these years with the band merely because of the unreleased old stuff can now finally move on.

I think "Memory Boy," "Desire Lines," and "Coronado" are my favorites so far. I was very pleasantly surprised when the horns kicked in on "Coronado." There are a few songs that aren't quite up to par with the rest, but as a whole, the album is pretty fantastic. It might be better than Microcastle, but I can't say that for sure yet because I loved Microcastle.

^x3 I lol'd, but 23-year-old me is actually pretty excited about that tracklist as well.

New Royksopp album 'Senior' coming out next week - you can stream the whole thing here --> http://hypem.com/artist/royksopp

It's really fuckin good - very polar opposite to 'Junior' which was much more pop oriented. This is more moody with lots of electronic sweeps / ambient mood to it. Check out Senior Living or Forsaken Cowboy off the new album preview...love em
