I'm a little disappointed in myself that I was so sick that I fell asleep immediately after the game was over. Because well know that there is no message board blow up like CatsPause blow up.

I know talent should matter more than anything, but I consistently found myself disgusted all year long looking at DeMarcus Cousins. And frankly, playing on a team with bad guards I think he'd be far more of a problem than he would have been a solution here anyway. Glad he went to UK. He fit there.

*** And it was pretty amazing watching Mazzulla consistently getting by two future lottery picks (Wall and Bledsoe -- one of which will, at worst, be the #2 overall pick) and scoring with two future lottery picks (Patterson and Cousins) inside. Nuts.

thats always been the difference between rose and wall. rose was stronger and a great defender. Wall is just superduper fast like a 6'4 ty lawson.

Every time I see that Duke/UK game from 1992 I feel awful for those Kentucky kids since Laettner should have never even been in that game still... I still remember where I was for that game for some reason and I was like 9 years old.

So far I'm 2/2 in terms of who I want to win this week. Today I want Baylor and Michigan State.

wall let himself get screened out on a lot of plays, and after wvu got some easy points, ky became really tentative on defense since the freshmen didn't know what to do. KY needed pressure and turnovers so they wouldn't have to play so much half court defense.

They probably could have zoned in the second half, too, since wvu may have cooled off.

All of that would have required a game coach, though. Cal is like roy - great recruiter, good system coach, crappy game coach.

^^ most Final Fours have as impressive or more. Last year was Roy, Izzo, Calhoun and Wright. 5 NCs between them.

One thing to notice, now, is how much better athletic players play defense. They have the speed to pressure passes and recover so that shooters cannot catch the ball in a comfortable shooting position. Good passes make good shots -- good defenses stop good passes.

If anyone has ever wondered why it seems like other teams shoot on us with guys closing out, it's because the shooter has already caught the ball and squared up. The closeout only has the potential to affect the arc of the shot, but for a good shooter, the closeout matters less because its all muscle memory.
