yeah I didnt realize Sergei is 32 and makes more money than Larose (who is 28 btw).

I also love how young our core players are

Staal and Cam are 26
Sutter is 22
Gleason and Larose are 28
Ruutu, Jussi and Joni are 27
Skinner is 18

Even after the last couple of games where he is playing better, I still think we should get rid of Pitkanen and his 4mil a year salary. And Ian White doesnt warrant 3mil a year, IMO.

I dunno. Ian White has been pretty damn solid and dependable all season. He's a tough defenseman who can be put on the ice for 20+ minutes a game. I like him a lot.

Ian White is fucking solid. He isn't flashy, and rarely makes any big mistakes, so people don't notice him. Pay attention to only him for a few shifts and pay attention to his positioning, etc. You'll see...

And I agree about White. I'm always happy when I don't notice a defenseman during the game; that usually means they're in good position and not taking dumb penalties. (looking at you, Commodore)

re: Larose, Dwyer, Samsonov. were I to keep any of these guys in the future, I'd be happy to keep LaRose and Dwyer, provided we can sign Chad for ~$1m. Dwyer is the type of player that likely won't ever make more than about 800k or so, and I think that's a fair salary for both sides.

thank god there is an investment group. maybe now we can spend closer to DAT CAP (as long as we don't go passing out long term high dollar contracts like candy)

also would be EXTREMELY interested to see what the return on Joni would be, considering we've already seen multiple first rounders move (including for joffrey fucking lupul and his bad back?). Something like 1st + roster player + mid/hi prospect is totally in the realm of possibility.

That said, I still love the shit out of Pitkanen even though he has been a turnover on skates at the worse possible time lately. You gotta take the good and the bad -- if we had a few defensive minute munchers and reduced Joni's responsibility maybe you could mitigate some of his shittiness.

That being said, I don't think JR will part with his precious easily. If McBain continues to get more minutes and shows some improvement I think getting rid of Joni will be easier for him.
