if miami loses to FSU that probably knocks them back out of the top 50. i don't know that it would hurt us all that much if it happens at this point, though.

SAS formula calculates NCAA Tournament chances
Mar 9, 2012 4:25 p.m.

For fans of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is an annual expectation. Both teams are again ranked in the top 10 and, no matter how they play this weekend in Atlanta at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, can expect a berth in the field of 68 who play for the national championship.

At North Carolina State University, fans are not quite as secure. Their team's 21-11 (9-7 ACC) record puts them squarely on the bubble.

Ultimately, a committee decides which teams get an invite and which sit at home during March Madness. Their algorithm includes not just wins and losses, but it is top secret. Every year, teams get left out, and fans are left wondering.

The three economics professors who ran the numbers through a data analysis program developed by Cary-based software firm SAS showed that NC State is almost a sure thing. Jay Coleman, of the University of North Florida, Allen Lynch, of Mercer University, and Mike DuMond, an adjunct professor at Florida State University, developed the "Dance Card" formula using information about past tournament selections to predict which teams are most likely to get in.

Maybe im being too critical, but all i could focus on was
"N.C. State has won 10 ACC tournament championships, second only to Duke (19) and North Carolina (17)"

another gem:

"C.J. Leslie, who had 19 points and 14 rebounds in Friday's win, is a Mike Gottfried believer. "

Unless their program factors in "NC State" shit, I wouldn't rely on it.

Today I woke up not confident about our bubble status at all. I hate uncertainty. Let's just victor today and I won't have to worry about it.

i think he gets like a $125,000 raise or bonus plus a 2 year extension for making the tournament in year one or two. i can't remember the exact details but i'm sure it's online somewhere.

I remember it being if he made the NCAA in year 2 or 3, but there might be something better for him for year 1.

Just curious to know, we reached the ACCT final in Lowe's first year in charge. How was the optimism then? He beat Carolina in his first year too, those would have been giddy days, right?

Team we want to lose vs Team we want to win Time
Marshall vs Memphis 11:30
Massachusetts vs St,. Bonaventure 1:00
Xavier vs St. Louis 1:00
Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt 3:30
Akron vs Ohio 8:00
Cincinnati vs Louisville 9:00
Long Beach vs UC Santa Barbara 10:00

Feel free to add others. Based on a combination of RPI influences and Bubble teams.
There are a few other games with teams that matter but they are playing each other so it is irrelevant. I.e. Colorado vs Arizona.

We really need Marshall to fall.

If Marshall gets the auto bid I will feel very bad about this.

That beig said. Looking at all the RPIs of the bubble teams we look very out of place in a good way.

It makes it more fun to watch other games when you have a rooting interest.

And I'm not just thinking about in or out, but also seedings.

Cal losing last night hurt us, cause a PAC12 team that wasn't gonna make the tourney is now guaranteed, while the other "bigs" in the PAC12 are still prolly goin. I know, Pac12, but still. Washington and Cal are still dancing

Yeah. We control our own destiny against a top 5 team. It is only realistic to want state to be in as good of position as possible should we lose.

I think Setin Hall gets bounced from the pac12 victor. Then Washington if Marshall wins. If not Washington then us

Also, brandon costner was lights out the whole tourney. The talking heads were clamoring for him to get the MVP despite us eventually falling to UNC. With that kind of player production, It seemed more like a situation where somebody had caught a hot streaked as opposed to Lowe being vindicated.

The best thing about the "oh we back" pick is the JC epic fist pump.

-He seems really scrappy on the defensive end getting steals, loose balls, etc.
-Dude has some serious range on his threes.

From page one. How ironic.

Where the naysayers at? The ones who got boners talking about how we were locks for the NIT, how there was absolutely no way we'd make the tournament? aaronburro, you still think it was a "train-wreck" of a season? Bitches.
