You're right, Duke had to score the baskets to come back and we had to give away possessions to lose it, but you'd be remiss not to acknowledge the importance of confidence and momentum in the game of college basketball. These are kids we're talking about, not professionals.

It's never been the refs job to control the pace and flow of the game, there should be no 'reining in,' just consistent and fair calls.

if you didn't see anything wrong with that officiating, then something is honestly wrong with you. Painter gets fucking MUGGED, causing him to lose the ball and fall down. The Duke player who mugged him, walks over to where Painter is lying on the ground and "trips." Painter gets called for the foul. And you see nothing wrong with that? That's grade-A officiating to you?

-we were up 61-41

-Duke played an incredibly poor game, they were disjointed throughout, Leslie and Williams had 4 fouls early in the 2nd half and yet we still had the lead with 3 minutes to go, they shot 36% from the floor and 27% from the 3, remove Seth Curry and they shot 16-for-51; and then we choked and let them win in the game they had no business winning

-Leslie and Williams: STOP GETTING IN FOUL TROUBLE! C.J. Williams is one of our best players and he played a whopping 12 minutes, and yet we still led this game for 37 minutes

-the refs, I'm not going to say they favored Duke over us or favored us over Duke, but they showed zero consistency on calling the game; the first few minutes of the 2nd half it felt like someone gave the refs a phone call in their locker room at halftime and told them they were calling the game wrong; how are players for any team supposed to play the game when you change how you ref in the middle of the game?

-at the end of the game, Howell does that dumb near midcourt in a halfcourt offense, and then Brown steps on the lline; come on guys, act like you've been here before

-Wood, 1-for-7 on the night with 5 turnovers, way to go buddy

-on a positive note, I thought we played a great inside game

-where the hell did our defense disappear to late in the game?

for awhile during the lowe years i thought i had my emotions about State sports under control

i think when i go into something w/ low expectations i'm fine

its the crush of unrewarded optimism that really stings and a 20 pt blown lead away against a rival is pretty much the definition of that

sports are about passion, if you can deal w/ a loss like that rationally immediately after, you dont have enough of it

I dealt with it with about 6 mins to go because I knew what was coming, so it made it not quite as bad. Still sucks. Agree about the Lowe years, theres actually some nice things about being that bad and having no chances= you don't care anymore.
