well I use CAD for all the drawings, and I use strucalc 6.0, tj beam, beamchek, and bc calc to design the members (but pretty much exclusively Strucalc 6.0).

I do most of the redlining and calculations by hand though

nah, I learned CAD in high school, and used it some at my last job so I could pick everything back up pretty fast once I messed around with it. I had never used any of that structural engineering software until I got here, it's all pretty easy stuff to learn, just make some measurements, apply the unit loadings and the computer spits out numbers, sizes beams for you and tells you how adequate the beams are

We are actually looking for a CAD drafter/designer right now if you have experience

i mean shit i know we havent had the structural design the civils had, when it comes to certain area's yeah you have had a lot mroe but you dont have any more exp with specific software then we do

I agree, especially after you pass the FE and get your EI, youve got enough schooling under your belt to do just about anything where the basics of engineering are used

probably a matter of what interests you as to what kind of degree/job you go after
