11.5" in diameter. and no, not vented. they're pretty thin, same thickness as the stock rotors, hence how you can use the stock calipers.

Not a vehicle but replaced the hubs on my center console trailer and they made it back from a 5 day vacation to Harker's Island with no problems. I still haven't sold my newer truck to get a part time hauler like I mentioned in that other thread. I'm leaning towards a Suburban after this last trip. 7/31/2012 9:16:49 PM |

Changed the oil on the M3, love the filter cartridge design compared to the filters on Hondas heh.
Misc stuff: Replaced hood struts so hood stays up on its own, replaced bulb in passenger side fog light so I finally have two working fog lights, replaced burned out bulb in the clock portion of the OBC
Started taking apart the front suspension, which is definitely interesting to do if you've never done it before. Got the tie rod off and the control arm partially off on one side. Today and tomorrow i'll be finishing the control arm removal (need a new wrench that I forgot about) and removing the strut, then I'll install the new control arms (with new bushings), new tie rods, and new struts on both sides.
Wish me luck 8/3/2012 7:29:39 AM |

fixed rear brakes on gremlin tuesday night, finally. Some dumbass didnt install the aduster cable guide correctly in it's mounting hole, causing the adjuster to never hit the starwheel... and why the left rear magically went haywire and would lock so soon. Got new adjuster plate on right side, went for a ttest drive! also upgraded wheel cylinders from 13/16 bore to 7/8, slight improvement... 8/3/2012 7:33:40 AM |

Replaced the A3 w/the e46 M, was very ///Heartbroken. Acquired the 2007 Jetta GLI as a public service, (it had seized cams). I bought it cause I think they're quite cool but I'm not really sure what I'm going to do w/it. I still like driving my 911. :/ 8/3/2012 10:13:57 AM |

I'll have to tell my wife about your collection, she thinks I'm the only one with 2 sports cars and wouldn't let me keep the Civic when I got the M3 because 3 cars is too many 8/3/2012 11:28:00 AM |

Yah, I no longer have an ///. I was quite disappointed in the e46 M, though honestly maybe someday I'd play with one again (doubtful). I still like the e36 and the e90 M cars though...
Anyway, as long as I have a 911 I doubt I'd want an M3 or another sports car currently. The Jetta/A3 are at least quiet and comfortable w/out being boring so they make decent additions to the 911. It was nice not having a clutch pedal while my leg recovered from a torn muscle btw. 8/3/2012 1:27:14 PM |

^ Ah ok, sorry, misread your previous post. I've never driven an E46, but I definitely prefer the E36 in terms of looks.
So last night I took the passenger side strut out, and finally got the nut on the middle ball joint of the control arm free (it took hours, ugh). There are some HATEFUL bolts on this car after 15 years and 160,000 miles with no replacements. On the bright side, I picked up an air impact wrench from Northern Tools (the buddy's garage I'm working at has a compressor) and its freaking awesome. Too bad I couldn't reach that one bolt with it, heh. I also got the new control arm bushing onto the new control arm, and the control arm partially installed into the car.
Playing with the old parts and the replacements next to each other is hilarious. The ball joints have zero resistance on the old parts, they just flop around.
Today I'll be finishing installing the control arm, taking the strut apart and rebuilding it with the new shock, installing the new tie rod, and installing the newly built strut. Should be a fun day Then I get to do all this again for the passenger side...not sure if that'll happen today or not. I'm extremely glad I have another car to drive around while I do all this. 8/4/2012 7:27:55 AM |

Lung:
- installed some 'custom' 7mm delivery valves cut from a guy on CompD (modifies injection event for a more crisp shiot) - Rotated the barrels on my injection pump a smidge. ('advances' the position of the fuel openings in the barrel at a given rack position,i.e. allowing more fuel at a given throttle position)
peak boost went from ~42psi up to ~50psi, and part throttle response is significantly improved.

Driver's side front suspension on the M3 seems like its seized up way worse than the passenger side was. Took a lot of wrenching to get anything off...then I snapped the head off one of the bolts that holds the strut assembly to the steering arm/king pin assembly. FML
New king pin assembly costs $300...ugh. The bolt is seized up pretty damn bad, not sure if drilling and tapping the bolt will work at all. 8/13/2012 11:48:59 PM |

"hmm, I'll just throw this accessory relay in series with the prewired relay and call it a day!"
*turns motorcycle on, doesn't crank, FUUU!!!*
*no voltage drop across inductor in accessory relay, though motorycle ignition turned to accessory mode*
*goes to crank the motorycle again and notices the accessory power LED is on when I press the starter button.*
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
*realizes prexisting relay is for the starter and current only flows when the starter button is pressed *
*sigh* FML [/blog]

since most of the major stuff is done on my car (for now, ha), i've started fixing small things that have annoyed me.
currently i'm trying to get every light working in the car. reverse lights haven't worked since i've had it, so i figured, 'hey must either be bad wiring or the switch on the transmission' -- finally got around to troubleshooting, and there are no bulbs in the sockets hoping that's all it is. 'rare' bulb, couldn't find any in the raleigh area, so had to order em. 8/14/2012 1:04:18 PM |

Not a damned thing. I don't see that changing until I throw some 15 dorra brake pads on the back, provided the current ones don't chew up the rotors by the time I get to them. Oh, fuck it, I'll still just throw on pads. 8/14/2012 11:45:24 PM |

Tried to drill out the sheared strut bolt in the steering arm tonight. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. On the bright side, read a few DIY guides, looks like the front wheel bearings aren't too bad, so I guess I'll just replace the steering arm (I figure both front wheel bearings could use replacement anyways, although they don't have any play they're rusty as hell).
On the bright side, got the old control arm off and new control arm installed on the driver's side tonight. Progress, heh.
To-do list at this point: 1) Driver's side tie rod 2) Driver's side steering arm replacement 3) New wheel bearings on both sides 4) Replace rear trailing arm bushings 5) Ghetto align and drive very carefully to an alignment place 8/16/2012 10:50:54 PM |

This one time I had to replace the camber kit on the front of the Integra and in the process that put the front alignment WAY off. The driver's side front tire was pointed outward and so was the passenger's side tire. Driving over 15 mph made both tires squeal and if you turned just a little bit off center the wheel would start to snap over even more into that direction. LOL
Luckily there was an alignment shop less than 3 miles away I could drive to without destroying the tires or crashing into a tree... 8/17/2012 1:50:45 PM |
