aaronburro = irony

and wow i never thought i'd ever agree with a credibility watch thread existing at all, but I think it is a legitimate question to have. 1 good season out of 4 complete seasons, with this still to be determined. We could certainly put it together, but honestly I'd rather have RW this season and roll with Brosius next year. Hopefully Glennon will prove me to be a false terrible douchebag against Tennessee.

at least let glennon throw the ball. we just had a typical drive that demonstrates TOB's lackluster playcalling at bc and here.

1st down- run with 4th string hb up the middle
2nd down- same thing
3rd down- throw to 3rd string hb
4th down- fg into wind in a situation where nobody else would kick a fg anyway

I know that Glennon is not at fault in all this, and he could end up being very good and a NFL quality quarterback....

but RW has been the overriding major reason we've had any success so far in TOB's tenure. Nate gets mad props too, but RW makes plays. All I know is that he is gone now, and we look like this. Maybe we still would have been god fucking awful with RW this year, but I think we would have the ability to score and stay with any opponent. Remember the game @FSU, 45-42? I'd rather lose in a shootout like that than 44-14.

any way, not saying FIRE TOB RAWR RAWR RAWR. just saying that he is probably retiring soon and what is he going to do here? He bought an extra year with Glennon, so is that going to be our big year? What the fuck are we going to do after that with Brosius, and why couldn't we have just tried to go with him next year as well and keep RW?

we better win some fucking games, Debbie Yow seems irrational and loves to stir the pot.

I think the point is we haven't had a single good TEAM under TOB.

The quarterback is by far the most important position on the field and we lucked into one of the best ones in the country for the past three years and still had lackluster results because the surrounding team was awful to mediocre each year.

Now that RW is gone we suck bad. And it's only going to get worse because our recruiting has gotten significantly worse.

Why wait until we're one of the worst teams in the country before we go in a new direction? We'll be on par with Duke soon (if we're not already!)

^^uh yeah

that happens everywhere man. sports, the corporate world...if an individual is valuable enough, you accomodate him. it's good fucking business.

it's not this bullshit champions in the classroom, community, etc, you wouldn't look like a paragon of virtue, but you would have your most talented player in your organization. I think that's what is important.

i'm done arguing with your trolling ass, you'll come around after this sweet 2-10 season.

yep. companies hand over the boss's car to the employee of the month just make sure he stays. yep.
but hey, gotta keep RW, no matter what else happens. Pay that great telephone operator 30million a year, just to keep her! yep! fuck everything else. fuck if he doesn't actually come back ad we are stuck with Brosius. yep, fuck that. gotta bow down and suck wilson's dick and pray he comes back.

even if we had good players, which we don't, TOB's assistants and game management is the worst i've ever seen on any level. Even BC fans were harsh critics of his game management and play calling. That was a red flag as soon as we hired him.

If only we had a decent AD in place we would have hired a coach like paul johnson or just stuck with amato and been light years ahead of where we are now.

[Edited on October 1, 2011 at 4:42 PM. Reason : don't worry about aaronboru. he doesn't get this whole "life aint fair" thing]

letting him play two sports FOR THE UNIVERSITY, sure. letting him go work for someone else? not the fucking same. let's not even pretend those are the same god damn thing. go up to your boss tomorrow and let him know you want a couple months off with pay so you can go work for some other company. let me know how that goes.

Quote :

no. glennon might transfer AND RW might get his ass hurt and then we're left with NOTHING for two years. that was the decision.

amato was a bad coach but a great recruiter so we would at least have players to be competitive and relevant.

obrien is a bad coach and a bad recruiter

I'm not saying amato should have stayed, im just saying we would have been better off keeping amato than hiring obrien. Paul johnson was the OBVIOUS hire at the time. Hiring TOB was a real shocker. Especially considering Chuck had just owned him in his worst season.

Team played a TON better today than Wake/Cincy. Have to be pleased with the effort. Didn't quit even after going down 21-0 and 42-21. Play calling on offense sucks, but at least we made some good halftime adjustments to make it a game at times.

The crediblity of TOB is inversely proportional to the credibility of RW. And it's not looking good for TOB.

The credibility of O'Brien is directly proportional to the credibility of Wolfpack football. Nothing more. Nothing Less.

Yeah, it will forever be known as "The Decision" that resulted in TOB being fired after this season (along with an overall crappy team). TOB is like CTC, Rivers left, CTC sucked...RW leaves, TOB sucks.

Regardless of how we all feel about this situation, we all surely realize it is a very delicate one. And what really, really sucks is that it does not matter why we are doing so poorly, or the circumstances of the split between Russell and State.

That Russell didn't have spring practice for two years in a row, that he left to go pursue baseball, that our defense is so bad we probably would be just as shitty even if RW and J5/Owen were still here...it doesn't mean shit.

No one cares why Russell was released (average joe sports fan), the only thing that matters is the perception. He was released by NCSU and this season we are awful. RW, on the other hand, is doing his thing and making cute "Achieving for Dad!" stories between himself and Nick Toon. It's all over ESPN, Russell is awesome.

You guys expect the idiot mass majority to care about details and context, as well as the odd situation Russell and Glennon have been in? TOB probably never expected Russell to start, I'm frankly surprised he didn't turn his golden boy lose and burn his redshirt the moment he stepped on campus. All that is just noise. Russell was "let go", Wisconsin lucked out (sweet sign on gameday, huh?), and wow that Russell Wilson sure is a smooth operator. Meanwhile, his replacement hasn't won a game against an FBS opponent in his short time as starter.

TOB better get this team in shape, or he will take the fall this season, whether its his fault or not. Like it or not, Russell's success in Wisconsin is a definite factor in his job security this season.

I like TOB. Hope he gets everything turned around. His teams do tend to get better after the bye week, so maybe we can get healthy and make some noise.

but this is kinda

^^ exactly - everyone is going to see NCSU as letting RW go - nobody cares about the details. we will look like total fools to the rest of the nation and nobody will ever come to nc state and are football team will disband.

Every announcer I have heard has actually agreed with O'Briens decision, and they all finish their re-telling of the Wilson story by saying O'Brien is a good coach who has a history of winning.

Seriously, we are not being creamed in the national media about this. Maybe Joe Dicksuck at the Murfreesboro Gazzette Blog Incorporation is calling this a botched call, but nobody in the national media is. I've heard Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Kirk Herbstreet, Brent Musburger, and even Mike Patrick all retell the story by saying that O'Brien made the right decision for the future of NC State. So just relax on the national media angle.
