People are making good points about adding another middle six forward to the team being unnecessary, but let's all remember that JR loves this game. People have a field day with Brian Burke, but if JR had left a few years back to take over the Toronto GM gig, I would have been fascinated to see how he was portrayed in the media. Rutherford usually makes good decisions around this time of the year (and now we're even drafting well! ibtParadis )

Anyway, this is not the only deal, just the first. Bring in Dumont (or whoever the player is) and ship out a forward or two? I hate to even suggest this because it would break my heart, but Jussi is a UFA after this season and he is going to get a couple nice offers with his playoff performace and 30 goal season. The return for him as a rental could be huge...but, he is a vital piece of the team and I want to see him resigned yesterday.

nothing really, other than Vancouver really needs defensemen.

This trade won't happen though.

To the suggestion that we'll get rid of Jussi, that won't happen.

The Hurricanes aren't rebuilding. We're currently in 8th and looking to move up higher in the standings. JR ain't going to sell the playoffs.

The Dumont trade would make me happy since it means that maybe JR is serious about getting rid of LaRose.

I really wonder who we are going to get in return. I thought we needed help on the defensive end, so trading away one of our most solid defenders doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me

It's really nothing to worry about. I'd be more concerned as the Devils considering the Canes have proven to be more dangerous in the third period. With Cole, Skinner and now Jussi I wouldn't stress about being just one shot down.

I dont know how many times it has been proven that when you put a ton of shots on goal good things happen. A good bounce, deflection or rebound is all you need, even if you shoot it from the blue line. 11 shots in 2 periods is a pretty big deal to me. A little phrase I've always lived by applies perfectly here: you miss 100% of the shots you dont take

We have been playing some pretty lethargic hockey of late. By we I mean the Hurricanes. I haven't played in months.

I think Chuck just had a breakdown on air. Said he would use some diapers from the game on Friday (it's Hockey for Huggies night). Then proceeded to say never to old to use diapers.
