Wow you're the first person to ever come into this thread and troll. Very clever and original.
Except that this thread has been around since 2004 and has been pretty much the same group of people posting in it the whole time. 10/11/2009 10:47:04 AM |

I thought Duncan was on the way out b/c of the way the fans/organization treated Chris, who was fucking garbage these last few years. At least thats what may St. Louis relatives say.
Oh well, wouldn't trust the organization to do something smart anytime soon. I can't remember the last big off season move for the cards, besides not signing guys like Renteria, Rolen, and Eckstein. (I know rolen wanted out and renteria kinda blows now but still). 12/8/2009 2:37:38 PM |

Duncan's back because La Russa is back, no?
I totally agree on the moves, I have already conceited that we are letting Piniero and Holliday walk even though both were great for us this year. 12/8/2009 3:20:48 PM |

and how's about this:

packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
This would be my guess right now:
2B Skip Schumaker CF Colby Rasmus 1B Albert Pujols LF Matt Holiday RF Ryan Ludwick C Yadi Molina 3B David Freese SS Brendan Ryan With Lugo, LaRue, Mather, Tyler Greene on bench
Rotation: Carpenter, Wainwright, Lohse, Penny, and either Smoltz/Garcia/Boggs/Ottavino
Relievers: McClellan, Kinney, Reyes, Motte, Hawksworth (I love this guy), Miller, and Franklin closing.
Lost: Glaus, DeRosa, Khalil Greene (thank God), Piniero (this stings but had to keep Holliday) Gained: Penny

Outstanding 3-5, but pretty meh elsewhere. Rasmus should develop into a very good player though and Schumaker could surprise. If that happens and they get anything out of 3B/SS, that'll be a tough lineup. A lot of IFs though. Pujols and Holiday will be good for ~2-3 runs per night.3/4/2010 9:41:46 AM |

Skip hit .304 last year and plays pretty solid 2B after moving from OF.

Good win.... maybe our best effort of the year.
Penny and Lohse are out for a bit. Personally Lohse could get his arm cut off tomorrow and I would care less (from a fan point of view.) That guy is a major rotation downer. 5/23/2010 7:34:40 PM |

I wish Holliday hit like he does against his old teams all the time. He went bonkers against Colorado and Oakland. Seriously if anything it shows how crazy playing at Coors Field is. Westbrook has been solid in two starts? Someone was going to get moved with our young OFers and it wasn't going to be Colby or Holliday.
Pretty funny stuff with the fight today and the win putting us tied or ahead if you go by the loss column. 8/11/2010 1:13:38 AM |

I felt damn good about that series. The sweep is always nice, a sweep in a pennant race is even better, but with the shit talkin and the fight it was freakin sweet. Honestly, the way this team has played all year I didn't think they had that kinda fight in them but it sounded like they found some motivation. 8/12/2010 3:29:04 PM |

^^^yeah, I was pretty tanked when I wrote that. Westbrook's been good, and the Chief Justice has BABIP'd his way to a .372 average, so OF production hasn't really dropped off. But I was and am still sad to see Ryan go.
^which team are you talking about? It looks like the Cards have the fifth-lowest bullpen ERA in the league, and the lowest in the Central--http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/split/128/league/nl and the fewest blown saves in the league--http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/split/128/league/nl/sort/blownSaves/type/expanded/order/true. If we had an "average bullpen," we wouldn't be in first right now.

Does it count as a blown save when they tank a 5 run lead in the 8th?
That stat really surprises me. Maybe its seemed worse because of a few fuck horrible losses they've had. Or maybe nobody has a bullpen worth a shit.
But to be fair, our defense leaves a lot to be desired outside of Molina and Pujols. Holliday is garbage, and our infield statistics I promise are better because of the incredible footwork and glove we have digging balls out of the dirt at first base.

Every game I watch or every time I see a stat line it seems like we give up a significant amount of runs in the 7th inning on. Maybe I am blind, but after watching the Colorado series and several other games where we gave up leads in the 8th or 9th inning.... it just seems to be much worse than in previous years. Not only that, it just seems like we hardly ever have a stat line that shows straight zeros in the latter innings unless our starters finish things.
Just a few recent games in which we gave up a (often sizable) lead that either cost us the win or forced us into extra innings: Florida (Aug 7): http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300807128 NYM (Jul 28): http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300728121 Colorado (Jul 7): http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300707127 Colorado (Jul 6): http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300706127 Arizona (Jun 13): http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300613129 8/12/2010 11:47:04 PM |

Kyle McClellan is one of the best set-up men in MLB and future closer Motte had a good year going before the injury. He had what a 30 inning scoreless streak and McClellan has given up like 1 ER all year at home.
