^^ to be honest, 360 had 3rd party support for its controllers because they were just a rehash of the normal xbox controller. i actually haven't seen any 3rd party ps3 controllers yet, but i'm sure there either are 1 or 2 out there or will soon be.

The wii controller is pretty unique, and will take a concerted design effort by 3rd party manufacturers to construct a controller. Not saying it won't happen, but i can definitely see why they aren't available on launch.

overall i'd say nintendo has had a much better launch than 360 or ps3 had. i don't see wii's going for a couple grand on ebay like the 360s and ps3s did, since nintendo is actually striving to keep up with demand for the console itself. for 360 and ps3, yeah its nice there are crap loads of accessories out there on launch, but what good is that if you can't get a fucking console in the first place.

Yeah, they had some really nice looking logitech ones at CC today. If I had a PS3 I would totally get those instead of the official ones.

^^^ rehash? every console controller (save the wii) must be a rehash of the same thing then. sure they are similar to the controller s, but they added 3 new buttons, got rid of 2 others, and ditched the slots.

those companies have had a long time to develop a 3rd party controller. the only explanation to me would be nintendo witholding info/licensing.

To the guy having wireless troubles... What error code are you getting when you're trying to connect? Also, what are your wireless settings? I did read that it helps if you set your wireless channel to 1 or 11. If you're getting 110213 you are screwed and have to get Nintendo to replace it.

stores get shipments is throughout the week. while many sell them as soon as they get them, some hold them until sunday to meet the minimums guaranteed in their weekly ads (like best buy did this week and wal-mart will be doing next week)

Component cables are finally here. They actually look like Nintendo expected someone to buy them. My GC cables just had some bubble wrap and instructions. This actually came in a box with packaging.

i wonder if any RPGs (in the turn based experience gaining sense) are coming to th Wii. it seemed like the Gamecube only put out like 3. maybe they can convince Square and some others to put out some stuff on the system now since it uses full size CDs, though I don't know how well the Wii can run those full motion animation sequences RPGs seem to have these days.

Wii discs have a storage capacity equal to DVDs. GC did ok on RPGs, but obviously nowhere in the league of PS2.

i've been lookin at gamecube games to get an idea of what might be comin out for the wii in the future. i was happy there were some real sports games available, cause thats what i was worried about. this is my first foray into the nintendo world since the NES, so i dont know what to expect other than tons of mario crap all over the place.

i read in one of those links above that 2k sports has a baseball game comin out soon...that should be awesome.

I don't see how RE4 could look better. It already ran in 480p on the GC. Other than that, I don't know of any kind of processing the Wii could do to improve graphics.

I don't know man, I'm just telling you what I saw. Maybe I thought it looked better when it didn't, but regardless, it looked better to me. I have no numbers or scientific formulas to prove anything, just what I saw with my own two eyes -- and I think that's worth more than numbers.
