I didn't bring up the contract because it has no bearing on my choice to buy an iphone. Those of us with iphones know perfectly well about the 2 year contract.

I've noticed a lot of sites have started to set 'home screen icons' when you add their site to your home screen. Facebook, pownce, apple (of course) are a few that I've found. Instead of the screenshot of the page its their favicon/logo. I just wish gmail would hurry up and implement it too.

Probably a dumb question...

But when my current two year contract runs out and its time to get a new phone...will I be able to get an iphone at a discount like I have every other phone I've bought when I sign a new contract??

I keep playing with my friends' iphones, and I've fallen in love. I just don't know if I'm ready to drop the loot on one considering I recently quit my part-time job and the cash in-flow is non-existent. Not exactly the time to be spending large amounts of money on cool gadgets.

^^I don't think you'd HAVE to wait for your contract to run out. When you activate it you sign a new 2 year contract. I purchased one for my mom for mothers day and activated it even though she is still under contract with ATT. She of course had to sign a new 2 year contract like everyone else. I'd imagine to get the discount they'd have to activate it in store for you, that is if the $200 isn't just a rumor.

and don't forget you have to upgrade your plan with an iphone...so you'd be dropping a boat load to purchase the device AND an extra amount each month on the contract. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a cash flow.

last night i was hammered up in Detroit with some rich rich rich executives

i have my phone on my lap, stand up to get out of the car and it lands in a puddle of water on the ground..

it still comes on and everything works except the bottom 1/4 of the digitizer is messed up. so, that basically makes it useless since i can't type and can only sometimes even get it to unlock

have i mentioned how f'ing bad this blackberry sucks ass.. i can't even explain how frustrated i am at this damn'd thing

I would highly recommend anyone that has a jailbroken iphone to check out Intelliscreen. I have been using it for the past week or so, and now I don't see how I did without it before. It basically adds all sorts of useful information to your lock screen so you can see the weather, any upcoming calendar events, new emails, sports scores, news, whatever right there on the lock screen without having to unlock your phone.

It's pretty useful, and AFAIK, it's not yet on the main installer repository list so there's probably a good deal of people that haven't yet heard of it. But it's totally worth installing, IMO.

Over the weekend I had left my phone outside on my porch while I Was working on my car. I came to pick it up and it was too hot to touch. Also when I turned the screen on it was fucked up on the right hand side. After taking the phone inside and letting it 'cool off' everything went back to normal and the screen looked as it should. +1 for apple.

I believe the next firmware update (which you can download in beta form and run today) will be coming out along with the next iphone, if not earlier. The next phone should be very similar in many hardware aspects, and it appears that the two versions will run very similar if not the exact same software. This is evidenced by the next firmware update's beta version having (blocked) screens for turning the 3g chipset on/off like the current software allows you to do with wi-fi.
