god dammit hell no.
that was no where near a fucking charge. Rewind it and the closer ref on the baseline was calling a blocking foul.

The Miami player definitely didn't have nowhere near the momentum to knock Hansbrough down. You could tell that it was a flop, but smart players know when and when not to flop.
Damn. Stupid mistakes by Miami cost them the comeback win, and of course you have to give credit to Lawson for taking over at the end of the game. 2/15/2009 9:29:47 PM |

I have this hope that when he graduates (and Paulus) it will get better. And I hope he tries it in the NBA like when Battier got his shit fucking owned, but I know Hansbrough won't play very much. 2/15/2009 9:37:56 PM |

Huh? Battier is a great NBA defender...
But I do find it incredibly ironic that a Duke fan is complaining about a flop. Shit, that's like me complaining that another team has a felon playing on it. 2/15/2009 9:42:05 PM |

I dunno, probably his first year he tried to take a charge under the basket with the semi-circle. I guess my point wasn't that he flops but that he got dunked all over. And I hope that happens, of he flops and people start hitting him real hard, or something. ok nevermind fucker 2/15/2009 9:44:18 PM |

It cant go both ways for hansblo, he either has the "will and power" to dominate everyone in the acc or he is not strong enough to take a hit and gets pushed to the floor 2/15/2009 10:36:43 PM |

Handsboereuough definitely flops a lot for a big man.
I think I saw him fall on his ass at least twice when he was guarding paulus on the perimeter. I know Paulus didn't push him down with his forearm. 2/16/2009 12:13:07 AM |

the problem is that if hansbrough (or any big man) just stands there and lets paulus (or any guard) bounce off of him, it's an automatic blocking foul. he has no choice but to flop. 2/16/2009 12:30:20 AM |

Hansbrough flops just as much, if not more than any player on Duke.. for such a "tough" player, it doesn't take much for him to fly backwards 2/16/2009 1:11:10 AM |

2 observations from that game:
What a BS charge call, I think everyone can agree. Even my wife you graduated from UNC laughed about how crappy a call it was and said it should have been a no call.
If you're Miami, why would you let anyone pull the three? I would think you guard the perimeter tight and allow ono-on-one matchups down low. That was piss poor defense at the end. 2/16/2009 8:15:43 AM |

See, when you put yourself in a bad position and play out of control you ALWAYS run the risk of getting a stupid foul called against you. If you want just a horrid call look at the "charge" call that SC got called against them when Nate McMillan's kid slid underneath the guy...
If I was Frank Haith I would have wanted to wring that morons neck... HOW can Jack fucking McClinton not get that shot? Or at least get a touch. That was some of the most mind numbingly stupid decision making I've ever seen. Good luck with that team of morons next year, Durand Scott -- bad decision buddy.
Quote : | "like i ever defend Paulus or anyone else on Duke when they flop..." |
Not the point. You're team benefits from this type of shit all the time. I never see you call it out... but I guess that's the point of being a fan. I don't mention AJ Price's mishaps anymore, but I'm the first one to call Eric Devendorf a girl beating fag.

Admittedly, I'll do a little whining of my own now.
I was on the baseline, and yes, the officiating was fucking ridiculous all game. Such as the phantom elbow swinging call that happened right in front of me.
and Miami has one hell of a defense.
I think another huge reason the Canes lost is Jimmy Graham's foul trouble. he is a fucking beast, and his replacement Gamble is a huge liability all around.

We got a shout out, sorta, during the Pitt/UConn game. They were talking about Everett Case and how he had like the most wins in his first 6 years of any coach or something like that. They mentioned that he was the first in the ACC, not Frank McGuire, to get the underground railroad to the South going. What they meant by that was Case was the first to consistently get players from the talent rich NYC area to come South and play. 2/16/2009 7:36:29 PM |

Jeff Allen suspended for one game Sophomore to serve suspension at Virginia on Wednesday night February 16, 2009
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech Director of Athletics Jim Weaver announced on Monday that he has suspended men’s basketball player Jeff Allen for one game following his actions during Saturday night’s game at Maryland. The suspension will be served on Feb. 18, as the Hokies play at Virginia in an ACC contest.
Weaver issued the following statement:
“Jeff Allen’s gesture after he fouled out was inappropriate and unacceptable and not reflective of our Hokies Respect Campaign.”
Men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg has issued the following statement:
“I was extremely disappointed in Jeff Allen’s actions as he was leaving the court at the University of Maryland on Saturday night. I, in no way, condone his behavior and will deal with it appropriately. Jeff knows better and is extremely remorseful about the incident and apologizes for his actions.”
Allen issued the following apology:
“I would like to apologize to all that were offended by my actions this past weekend. I know that type of behavior is unacceptable. It was a lapse in judgment during the heat of the moment.”
Weaver has discussed the circumstances surrounding Saturday’s incident with University of Maryland Director of Athletics Debbie Yow.
With the issuance of these statements, there will be no further comment on this matter by Virginia Tech.

GO CLEMSON! BEAT THE TWERPS!
It would certainly help us out in the standings if we can go 1-1 this week and UMD go 0-2. We will probably lose at UNC, but can and should beat UVA at home. If UMD loses at Clemson and also loses to UNC at home this week then we would be tied with them in the standings going into next week. Next Week we play at Wake then Maryland at home. Maryland will play Duke at home then visit us. It could be a big stretch for both teams culminating in the March 1st matchup between the two teams in terms of the final standings and both squads' tournament hopes. 2/17/2009 7:50:36 PM |
