Diouf had a hat-trick with the reserves on thursday, nick, so i wont be surprised to see him either start with rooney or come in for berbatov if he starts instead

Roon-dogg with 3.

Nani looks to be doing a lot better.

[Edited on January 23, 2010 at 11:45 AM. Reason : HAT TRICK]

Rooney won't leave OT ever.

Plus they're about to re-do his deal to make him the highest paid player in the country

Gorgeous goal for Spurs... though I wanted to see Leeds at least force a replay. Oh well...

Fuck... I turned it in the 88th for the end of the MSU-Minnesota game. Wish I saw it. Where can I go for highlights on the internet when they are up?

Just saw where Robinho is leaving City to mostly likely go back to his old Brazilian club Santos on loan. That seems like a weird move. Why wouldn't he go somewhere else in Europe?

i doubt many teams want a player with that huge of a salary and are a huge douche like him. im sure he'll be back in europe soon tho, I doubt he'll stay in brazil for long.

^ pretty much that it, exactly.

plus he can go to Santos and play shitty opponents for a while and his stock will rise because it'll look like he's some sort of reborn Pele in a world cup year

I know this is La Liga but I wanted to see what you guys thought of this article.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=730956&sec=europe&cc=5901

Ronaldo got sent off for swinging his arms and breaking a defender's nose and proceeded to protest instead of showing some sort of remorse for fucking up a guy's face. Ok, no problem, I can live with that but these quotes from management are what threw me off kilter.

Quote :
"Meanwhile, Madrid director general Jorge Valdano said referees should give Ronaldo preferential treatment because he is an "entertainer" who just "wants to play""

Quote :
""More than Ronaldo's need to adapt to the Spanish league the referees need to adapt to protect players who want to entertain. I don't want to judge referees decisions, simply to state that Ronaldo's intentions are always noble.""

W T F

I can't believe that they would use this as an opportunity to lobby referees for preferential treatment. That's fucking disgraceful. Ronaldo's intentions are not "always noble" as they claim as well.

well, to be fair, he didnt mean to break the guy's nose

I would've protested being sent off, too

but:

1. it's Madrid, their directors always say the most inane shit

2. I've noticed a really bad trend of British journalists (espn soccernet is all brits) intentionally mis-translating anything that comes out of Spain to the most sensational effect

United put in a bid for Chris Smalling from Fulham for 7 million

im not too worried on vidic. hes younger than ferdinand and as far as ive seen this is his first real injury problem. plus from what ive read about smalling he doesnt sound like the enforcer type defender. seems like the more speedy center back like rio is/was

oh. i still dont think he's leaving either. i have yet to see anything at all suggesting that he doesnt like it at manchester and i honestly do not see united selling anymore players to real madrid (the only team who could afford him in spain right now)

actually this pretty much confirms that Vidic is gone in the summer to Barca

Signing just confirmed from the United press office. Smalling stays the last half of the season at Fulham and joins United in the summer.

I guess he's got to be alright, considering how Wenger was looking at him, too.

[Edited on January 26, 2010 at 10:56 AM. Reason : I think the $ amount for Vidic is like 25 million? not TOO expensive for Barca]

also, Stuart Holden just signed with bolton, i wasn't sure whether to put this in USA or Epl. But I think this could be a good move for him.

yeah and it's only for the rest of the season so he could either

a) tear it up, attract better offers from better clubs and move in the summer

or

b) suck it up, and still have the opportunity to move somewhere else instead of be stuck in a situation that isn't good for his development (can't get playing time, etc)

or

c) just play good enough to stay on for Bolton, but they get relegated - he can move somewhere else to continue first division soccer
