I, too, have driven a dangerously misaligned vehicle to the alignment shop.
Put a replacement steering rack in the old e30 and put new tie rod ends on in the process. Backing out of the driveway it was trying to snatch the wheel out of my hands. Going forward it just felt like it was dishing back and forth. Worked out fine though. How much trouble can you really get in at 20 MPH when the brakes work fine?

Why the 044? Does it fit stock or something? That's a monster of a fuel pump for a 2871r. 8/19/2012 7:04:19 PM |

Patched the rear tire on the bike, twice. Both patches failed and the tire didn't hold air. So I plugged it and everything is great
Installed relay for GPS and a 12v accessory to use for electric tire pump, phone charger, etc.

Yeah. :/ sad thing is the tire on it is new. Maybe 4k miles and a 1 track session, and it's still at about 85% tread. fml.
New tire ordered. $149.59, plus $10 for mounting. Not bad I guess.

one of our suppliers make a drop-in in-tank unit using the 040 and 044.
i had originally ordered the 040, but decided to go with the 044 so i could have room to grow.
my audi (1998, AEB 1.8t) has a pretty primitive (as 1.8ts go) engine management. i am hoping to swap out to the AWM (2001 a4) management at some point, which would allow me to use an injector bigger than a 440cc. 440 is the max using the software we sell on the AEB management. plus it was only like $35 difference between the 040 and 044.
so, once i can find a wiring harness, ecu, throttle pedal (mine is non-DBW, and the AWM is DBW), throttle body, etc. i can upgrade to 630s or larger and a bigger turbo should i feel inclined.
for info sake, the AEB is a narrow-band management system without a MAP sensor and non-drive-by-wire (has a throttle cable), while the AWM uses a wide band, has a map sensor, and is drive by wire.8/20/2012 10:31:54 AM |

Cool... i guess if someone made an easy fit one for my subie i would too... but...
just looks like a PITA to retrofit in. 044, wally 255, 044
however you do know an 040/044 (same pump guts one made for inline one intank) will suit 4 1000 cc injectors @ 90 psi fp right? so... plenty of room to grow there.
lol i'm just wondering why not go with one of the bajillion walboro pumps that i'm guessing is probably a drop in for the stock pump and flow plenty of fuel for 650s
hell i'm about to go 850s on a DW 65c (even smaller case then a wally) which should be a match made in heaven
the other two are 255 sized.

Spent the greater part of this past weekend replacing the water pump in my g/f's 2000 Chrysler Concorde. God forbid Chrysler builds a car you can actually get your hands into - it was like the steps to get to the water pump were:
1) Remove car from water pump 2) Replace water pump
Ah well, it went back together mostly without trouble, and now I'm just hoping that some of the driving she did before realizing the block was totally dry won't have caused any permanent damage. 8/21/2012 8:37:24 AM |

HPDE at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw SC this past weekend. lots of seat time. after a couple run sessions, my brake fluid boiled, my pads turned to mush, all the rubber dust seals on my front calipers melted... i'm lucky i didn't hit anything. still had a fun time, though!
only pic i can find of my car at the event so far.
i'd highly recommend this to anyone. great classroom instruction, great 1-on-1 instruction on track, tons of seat time, plenty of runoff if you derp a corner, and you get to legally haul ass all day! 8/27/2012 3:19:59 PM |

smoothcrim, yes, with a super cheap Groupon discount.
Jek, shitty pads and old fluid i bought some Carbotech XP10s to run up front for the event, but when i tried to install them the day before, one of my Q45 slider pins (or whatever the hell those pins are called that allow the caliper to center the pads on the rotor) was stuck and wouldn't slide. without it sliding, i couldn't fit a new pad in the outside pad slot because of the new pad's thickness. lame lame lame. i shoulda checked it sooner
zxappeal, yes i flushed the fluid after the incident, but the brakes still mostly feel like mashed potatoes. the pads are shot, and the rotors are looking pretty nasty too. i just ordered some Hawk HP+ pads for the rear, and i'll swing by LKQ in Durham later this week to grab a functioning Q45 front caliper bracket so i can get some fresh new pads up front too. 8/27/2012 9:39:42 PM |

^was that enough suspension travel?
are "slider pins" like the bolts that hold the stock calipers to the bracket? if so, they'll come out with some pb blaster remove them, brush them off, and tap the threads
-------------
lately:
(all-seasons. short-shifted 3rd @ 6400 just to try it.. subsequent runs had sputter problems (2nd gear one run, then 4th gear the next) so I couldn't redeem myself) Also wish I could have broken 120's

^ enough suspension travel, referring to my ride height? define "enough" i only rubbed tires a bit in the two bumpy corners, but enough that i could smell the rubber
but that's also with 245/45/16 fronts and 255/40/17 rears, both near 25" in diameter. shorter tires would solve that issue quickly. 245/40/17s would be nice next time around. or i could just raise the car, but pffft who does that
and yeah, that pin. i hosed it down with pb blaster a couple times and still couldn't get it to budge. i'll probably give it one more shot later this week before i head off to LKQ. 8/27/2012 10:56:27 PM |

in the past 2 weeks, got the following done to the miata:
rollbar painted & welded in installed Corbeau Forza seats (bolted to the floor) 5pt harnesses Hawk HP+ pads
Went up to VIR for Trackdaze yesterday. This was my first time doing an HPDE with the Miata. Everything went pretty well, didn't get any brake fade. I really wish i went for cam locking harnesses instead of the latch-locking kind, they were a pain to get in/out of and they pissed off my instructor quite a bit

never a dull moment around the house.
worked on the brakes and clutch today. Loop Road is turning my rotors and flywheel tomorrow morning, and all my new brake pads are here and ready to go. hopefully my new clutch will arrive tomorrow and i can put everything back together in one sweep.
reason for clutch change: the old one kinda sorta heated itself to the flywheel and pressure plate. it had a great 2.5-year run though, so i can't be mad.
