seriously, CJW had 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes of the game and had to sit. He came back in for a little more and picked up a foul immediately. Then he gets a foul in the first minute of the second half. But no, there's no bad officiating there. none at all.

meanwhile, a duke player slams our player to floor, knocking the ball out of his hands, and then "trips" over our player that he just threw to the floor, and who gets the foul? OUR PLAYER. but hey, fouls were even, right?>

Seriously, what's the fun in expecting to win every game you play? That's why there are so many "Wal-Mart" UNC fans.

It's not easy being in love with NC State, but it's a relationship. And with any relationship, there are ups and downs. I'm sure 99% of you expected us to lose this game. The fact that we lead most of the game makes this loss 100X worse. But come on, you knew halfway through the 2nd half there was little chance of us coming out with the win. You expected it. But you didn't let that fact affect you from thinking we could win this game.

I have no idea what point I'm getting at (really, it was Dogfish Head Brewery takeover night at Flying Saucer-- I'm gone, schwasted, drunk, etc.), but I'd rather be a fan of NC State any day over a Duke/Carolina fan.

This lost sucked, we ALL know it. But, FUCK IT! I LOVE NC STATE! Nothing will ever change that fact. Our day will come, my friends.

he played on a scholy at asheville, a school that almost definitiely does not support its sports teams through donor's alone

I'm as pissed as anyone about what happened. Having the lead until the last two minutes and pissing it away sucks. Especially considering how large the lead was, and who we were playing.

Right now, though, overall I feel good about State. If you had said before this game that this is how it would have turned out, I think most of you would have been impressed, especially after the ass whipping Carolina gave us. Gottfried's job right now is to win all the games he should win, and try to take a few of the ones he shouldn't. At Duke is one of those.

The refs have an impact on the game, and if it was neck and neck the whole way, I could see the complaints. But when you are up 20 and lose, you have no one to blame but the players. Even if the referees are biased, to say they are the reason for a 15 point swing in ten minutes is a little simplistic. As a player, you have to know it's your job to find a way to win. Florida State did, against Duke and Carolina, the two teams which are the alleged beneficiaries of biased officiating.

Other than the Georgia Tech game, we've won the games we should, which we haven't been able to say in years. Additionally, we have a phenomenal recruiting class coming in. If I was Gottfried I would tell the players they played well, but then rip them a new asshole for fucking it up. They're men, they can take it.

If our players are doing what a lot of fans are doing now, then we're fucked. Because the only thing we can change is the way our players perform, not the officiating. And we made too many crucial mistakes. As mentioned, just put those Scott Wood free throws in, Brown doesn't step on the line at the end, and basically it's the other way. There were lots of other things like that. None of that is asking too much.

Funny how our best perimeter defender was taken OUT OF THE GAME by bullshit calls though... The most egregious call was the 3rd foul on Williams at the end of the 1st half. Rivers literally dribbled into him and then just continued chasing and pushing him while dribbling the ball with the other hand.
If K could have made a request at half time to the officials would it have been to call every touch foul they could see or to loosen up the whistle and let the players play? We ended up playing most of the 2nd half trying to run the clock because everyone was in foul trouble. Those of you who try to say that this loss shouldn't be attributed to the refs are DUMB AS FUCK coach K cocklookers.

^^^^^I agree with everything you just said. To add to that, winning breeds winning and losing breeds losing. Duke played with the confidence that they could still win despite being down by 20 because...well...they just do that. When they aren't stomping people they are eeking out close wins or mounting impressive comebacks. They knew they were capable of rattling off a 29-5 run or whatever the hell it was. Our guys also knew it, and they froze like a deer in headlights.

I don;t understand the first five minutes of the 2nd half. i understand if you are going to call a game tight, but you can switch how you call a game between the half.

we ran under too many ball screens in the 2nd half, wide open 3s.

Wood has go to get his shit together, he has to do better at running the Defender into the screener.

They were getting nothing from the inside because CJL and Howell were in there causing problems. As soon as you take them out of the game with foul trouble Rivers and Curry drive right to the hoop and get easy lay-ups. Everyone was tentative, and I agree the third and fourth fouls on CJW were by far the worst calls of the night.

The refs officiate many of our games and know exactly how deep we go, so they know a tight whistle is going to affect us more than Duke. They also seemed to call the two halves completely differently so our players had no chance to react to the change and as a result got in early foul trouble.
