Yeah, you can't dunk once there's 20 minutes left in the pregame countdown. KSU player dunked at 19:58.

I covered a high school game last year where a team got a technical for dunking during pregame warm-ups. Never heard of that rule till I saw it enforced.

It's an outdated and stupid rule left over from the days of rims that broke and non-hydraulic backboard supports. The NBA doesn't do it because there's no reason not to let teams dunk during warmups. It's just refs being refs.

A few takeaways from yesterday's NCAA tourney games in Raleigh:

The Memphis vs. GW game was the worst officiated game I've seen in person in many, many years. The non-partisan fans (mostly UVa) and I were appalled at how many awful calls there were in that game. Blown calls and inconsistency everywhere.

I'm really glad Memphis won, it means I get to see their dance team out there again on Sunday.

The Mercer fans were nuts. I hope there are a bunch more who come up here and buy tickets.

The Mercer Bear, whoever is in that suit, is the shit.

Jabari Parker looked like a freshman again Friday. Dude was tense as fuck.

UMass is the worst 6 seed I've ever seen. They looked like they had never played basketball before.
