When my in-laws started visiting a few years ago we'd usually take them out to a nice dinner or something similar. That lasted one or two times before they said they felt uncomfortable going to fancy restaurants and they'd rather not. They weren't pity dinners, you're family, there's no need to be embarrassed, but, ok, whatever.

Their definition of "fancy restaurant" has since become more and more modest. Restaurants from our normal weeknight restaurant rotation are now too fancy, and there's been the occasional comment that a particular home-cooked meal is too much.

Last night we were discussing with the in-laws where to go for dinner when I suggested a new pizza place I've been wanting to try. There were a few questions about price and then: "Do they have tablecloths?"

We've reached the point that any restaurant with a fucking tablecloth is considered fancy.

^Nope! They are even more expensive. I'm an auto glass tech and will be needing some cordless power tools soon. Makita offers a power caulk gun for $207, Milwaukee has one for $199, and Ryobi has one for $40 that lasts just as long as the others. That is why everyone goes with Ryobi. I was told today that it isn't worth the money to go with the others. I would go a little more high end if their caulk guns weren't so overpriced.

^I'm probably investing in Ryobi after I talked to one of our techs today. I'll need a drill/screw gun and a caulk gun. All caulk guns have about the same life span and that is an important tool for us. Like I said, Ryobi is about a quarter of the price of all the other brands and it's the only one sold in the store (Home Depot).

On a side note I was shocked when I went in Lowe's and discovered they don't sell Milwaukee, or Makita products. The employee said they send people to Home Depot all the time when they are looking for those brands at Lowe's.
