I just don't see how they would not give Tony a silent clock. If such lesser characters have been honored with one and Tony has been around since day 1 you think they would atleast give him that. Even if his death was corny

Apparently you guys have learned nothing from this show's history. In the first season, Jack's wife "dies", and we all saw just how long THAT lasted!

Yeah, they basically spent the entire season saving her life and then just killed her off in the last 5 minutes.

I was kind of thinking that. It wasn't really as tragic or as emotional as the four deaths that have had silent counts (although I'm sure many would disagree with me on that):

-Jack spends the entire first season trying to save his wife and daughter, and then the last thing that happens in the season is his wife is murdered.
-George Mason sacrafices himself and saves Jack's life to save millions of people.
-Jack has to execute his boss with a gunshot to the head.
-Edgar dies while his friends and co-workers are a few feet away watching helplessly.

what has been interesting about this season is the sheer number of people we've seen .... there have been more main characters and more villians this season then any other

and just about everyone from a past season has done something (like die)

On a real note - How many seasons are they planning on doing? With all the killings next seasons going to have to start out with a ton of new support characters... or is this the last one? Didn't one of the producers say he would like the show to end with Jack dying?

was lynn' death cool, was his takedown cool? yes. it was, it was a highlight. he was introduced THIS season.

they only kill off characters that have nothing left to do or say.

it is easy to create new characters that we care about in one season.

Lynn is a minor character, as was Edgar.

Everyone who was the heart of the show for the first 3 seasons is either dead or their storyline is played out. Personally I cared about the characters of Michelle and Tony. If they killed off Chloe I wouldn't really care. I like Palmer and Aaron, I could care less if they killed Mike Novak off.

Jack's relationship with Tony brought a certain level of depth to his character.

Maybe I'm different, all the new characters they created for seasons 4 and 5 I dont feel any attachment to so I disagree that they can just whip up some new characters that we'll like.

On March 13th's Monday Night episode, Tony Almeida was killed off (see above). His death was confirmed by a number of sources, and heated debate as to whether or not he survived followed. Many fans expressed their outrage and anger at his sudden and messy passing, and at the fact that he did not recieve the coveted Silent clock, an event occurring at the end of an episode to honor the death of a major character. Fans stated that Edgar Stiles, a character with much less importance, recieved one the week prior, and questioned Manny Coto as to why Tony Almeida did not get one.

Fan sites, such as AIG[2], and Manny Coto's personal message board, have expressed their disdain towards the show's writers for turning to shock value over plot and character development, and have protested and boycotted the show, claiming that the death of Tony Almeida is the "kiss of death" for 24.
