I'm still losing weight til I get toned and lean and awesome, then I have to learn how to maintain. Its going to be weird, how do you stop losing weight after spending a year or so doing just that? A completely different chapter altogether. Oye

QT, your down to the weight your body likes....and you will have to do alot to go further down....I went from 175 to 160-165, I cant go below 155....I like to be at 160.
7/29/2007 9:22:25 PM

7/29/2007 9:25:20 PM

7/29/2007 9:26:35 PM
I want to lose like 18 pounds. But I'm lazy.
7/29/2007 10:35:07 PM
I'm struggling to lose the weight too. Can't afford personal trainer sessions right now and I'm not in a normal routine yet with moving the hose around. I'm at the point where if I eat one item wrong I don't lose any weight.I'm struggling to get back to that disciplined state to lose these last 30 lbs.
7/29/2007 11:10:41 PM
So I've hit one of those wonderful plateaus. I kept telling myself I wouldn't do that, my momentum would keep me going but that momentum dropped away the day "vacation" was in sight. I'm glad to say that i have not gained any weight and I know I am not losing muscle. I am just not losing it. I know what i'm doing wrong and beating myself up for it was one of those. I have to try and find tha motivation that kept me so dedicated before my july trip. It was the shock I expected to see on those who had last seen me as a tubby weeble wobble. well that came and went and now the excitement or dedication seems gone and I can't find something that's going to kick me back into it.I've seemed to lose the idea that this is a lifestyle change though when I think about how if I don't keep this up I could possibly go back to that hideous size I adamantly say no. Perhaps that should be my new motivation. Just a few minutes ago I wrote down a list of things that motivate me to continue down this path. After knowing what it feels like to be healthy I don't want to go back, so then why is it so hard to keep going down that path? I do blame lack of routine currently. I just moved into a house making the closest gym a 20 minute drive, I recently hit financial troubles causing me to cancel any further personal trainer sessions, and my work schedule has been everything but ordinary. On a positive note I will be financially safe starting tomorrow, my personal trainer wants to work with me for limited funds to help me continue down this path, and my new work schedule is going to me 8-5 Monday through Friday with the gym 5 minutes away. I can get back into a routine and start feeling good about myself.I remember when I first started how I claimed it was all about the baby steps. When making a major change in your life it has better chances of remaining permanent if you ween this new change into your daily routine. For some reason I am beating myself up more harshly and claiming lack of will power and need to fail for reasons I ate that potato chip or went to sonic's for dinner. I wasn't embellishing on the positives steps I was making, working out regularly, eating well for the most part, drinking water. Well I'm on my way back now, no negativity, just keep moving forward. I want this for me, to feel those single digit pants fit for the first time since 8th grade, to see the look of people who knew me as the chunky one, to feel my entire body revel in this new found wealth of health. One step at a time....Meanwhile, what keeps you guys motivated to staying healthy and exercising?
8/2/2007 10:01:11 PM

Thanks Einstein. Your brilliance is greatly admired.
8/22/2007 5:04:34 PM
Is there any reason why I can't do cardio immediately after strength training?
8/23/2007 12:16:29 PM
I usually strength train 6 or so hours after cardio, but thats just me. Normally before I go to sleep so my muscles can relax and rebuild right after.]
8/23/2007 12:18:02 PM
if you get lyme disease you can lose 60 in a couple monthsbut it was also stressbut hey, whatever works right
8/23/2007 12:21:27 PM
^Yeah, good job. What are some good shoulder exercises? I just do the press all the time, is there something wrong with doing the same exercise for a muscle group repeatedly as long as the weights go up?My gym is kinda far now so I wanna knock out two birds with one stone, but I might just do strength training here then go to the gym for the cardio since I'm in a zone with that elliptical.
8/23/2007 12:55:59 PM
push upsmilitary press in front of and behind the headif you have a couple dumbells at the house you can do different shoulder lifts while sitting down in a chair[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 12:58 PM. Reason : ..]
8/23/2007 12:57:26 PM
believe it or notTriple H's book "Making the Game" has some simple, solid advice for free weights. It's nothing I didn't already know, but if you're a beginning lifter, it's not a bad book, and it's written towards novices.35 lbs to go for me. down ~65.
8/23/2007 1:15:32 PM
I need to lose about 15 more to be at the same weight I was at when I broke my back25 more to be at my best weight ever35 more and I'll be really happyif I get to 185-190 then I guess I'll start hitting the weights pretty hard again, but my bosy isn't what it used to be I'd probably already be there, but I drink way too much[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 2:13 PM. 8/23/2007 2:13:30 PM
Sweet, thanks for the suggestion. I also want to get the book "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Nutrition" I forget the author's name but it's written for folks like me, I don't need scientific jibber jabber but the information is valuable.
8/23/2007 2:15:12 PM
A pair of dumbbells can really help your shoulders. I did military presses sitting on a balance ball and lateral raises a lot this past spring and it helped. I have torn my subscapularis, so a strong back and shoulders are important to me. My shoulders have gotten a lot bigger this summer by wakeboarding and swimming a lot. I swim twice a week for 45-60 minutes normally and it has really helped. The first time I swam for 30 minutes straight I thought I was going to croak. lol[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 3:38 PM. 8/23/2007 3:36:01 PM
I should get back into swimming. Problem is i was never taught the proper swimming technique so i'm sure I'm doing more work than needed but i'm also looking like a fool doing so. haWhen i did my lifeguard course I lost a shitton of weight from swimming.
8/23/2007 4:58:00 PM
I keep my head above water when I'm swimming which is terrible form, but it's somewhat of a necessity when swimming in rough water. Sometimes my hand will start to tingle and I'll tread water for a minute to make it stop. Your spine should be straight, so your head should be down and your neck should be aligned in line with your torso. It's a lot easier in the pool, but swimming in the lake or the ocean with waves rolling in is a completely different experience. I hit up Pullen once or twice a month and I'm sure everyone is like "WTF?"[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 5:06 PM. Reason : l]
8/23/2007 5:05:23 PM
Yeah....i'm not very good at the head down thing....

12/11/2007 11:30:36 PM
Kiwi- you still at it?Sounds like a good endeavor... however, I'd end up in the hospital if I lost 50lbs. I'd be happy with 15-20 & being more toned (some nice abs would be a plus, too )
