i never really used overkill my first go around. Once i unlock i am highly considering using it as a custom class in some maps like overgrown if for no other reason than the ghille suit. Set sniper as primary which i have the option to use but have my LMG or silenced G3 as secondary. I can chill hidden in the grass and mow down the enemy team.

^yeah but if you have on Overkill, you cannot have UAV Jammer or Stopping Power or some of the other good perks that the 2nd slot fill...I think the best bet is to become a sniper and pick up an automatic from a dead body

tis true; hence why i have usually found overkill useless in the first place. Although i have read that it is used more in HC b.c you do not get the message to pick up a weapon and bc of the faster paced action.

yeah sometimes i feel lost or out of place in certain game modes since most of my classes are designed for TDM...still my point was I'm sure Faster Reload sounded good to someone who played the game a few times and got shot up while reloading an LMG, but once you play the game for awhile, you realize not to reload (an LMG) until you really have to, and even then to hide somewhere while you reload

I saw that same setup the day before yesterday on a kill cam after the sumbitch killed me, and I was in a serious state of "WTF mate?"

Went 30-4 on Showdown yesterday, got the "cruelty," "extreme cruelty," "afterburner," "blindfire," "slasher," and "air superiority" all in the same match. It was pretty incredible for me, best I've ever played. Of course I played like ass the very next match.

i have been getting progressively better - not that I was "bad" before, but I never cared about k:d ratios at all. I'm generally in the top half, more likely in the top 3, but I rarely am #1 because I dont give a fuck and will run into a bad situation and die repeatedly during the course of a game.

i was just on today, maybe 5 to 8 or so.

i used to play a WHOLE lot, got into RSV2 and GTA4, but i'm glad i'm back on COD4 now. i was always decent, but it's rough now, i'm getting back into the groove of things. i forgot where all the hot spots were, and i would repeatedly run into shooting lanes... i forgot the speed of things, too... this game is so fast paced.

my first day back i was going just less than 1:1 k/d, now i'm getting back around 1:1... when i left off i was like 1.5:1 i think... not great, but not bad.

Why prestige? I don't see the point. I'm just sitting at 55 leveling up the things I ignored, and completing challenges. Maybe once i do everything I'll prestige, but only then.

Prestige makes you a better player. It forces you to use different weapons and different perks on all the maps. While I do use things like Fragx3 and the P90, they make you lazy. It really pays off when you are on a long streak and have to use up to 3 different main weapons because of ammo. I am confident that I can play at a 1.5:1 ratio with pretty much any weapon I pickup (though i never grab a sniper because it is too role specific). Also, by having to play out of your comfort zone it helps you learn how others are likely to play the map.

And I have to get this off my chest... if you aren't a sniper, STOP SITTING ON YOUR ASS IN THE BACK CORNER! Hell, even the best snipers I've seen are usually highly mobile/aggressive. All you get by waiting is the occasional easy kill and an almost definite grenade to the face within 30 seconds. Also, stop bunching up in rooms with other people, you are just giving the other team an easy 2/3-kill.

I don't have bandolier on any of my perks atm and I find myself picking up other people's guns when I run out.

I also find myself playing HTDM more than regular TDM, just because the game type in and of itself is more challenging.

well that's what's great about this game, there's more than one way to play it, and it keeps all types happy.

me personally, i like prestiging as soon as i hit "level 56". i think it's fun to start all over again; without some of the better perks, there's always a challenge.

Only upside of this is when they act as cannon folder for me to move in behind them to sweep up.

24-11 on overgrown to call it a night. i was screaming in my mic the whole time but i realized it had lost sync. oh well. I took about out 5 guys in a seamless move from the creek up to the bridge on the barn side. I called an airstrike to drop near the northeast bridge. killed two more in the L house to get the helicopter and as soon as i did my airstrike dropped and whiped out their entire team again and ended the game. The chopper didnt even get to make an entrance.

You miss the point. It doesn't matter what level you are when you pick up someone else's gun, it matters if you are well versed in a multitude of weapons and play styles. Continuously using a red-dot or silenced P90 with Fragx3 gets you playing in a rut. You rarely change your approach because you can win a majority of the battles against general competition with the same setup. You never bother using a Skorpian or a G3 because you do your best with a P90. Having gone 5 times through not having red-dots, silencers, UAV jammer, Fragx3, claymores, etc. has made me a much better player than when I was just sitting at 55.

Its the same problem as people who skip maps because they suck at them. If anything, you should be seeking out matches like that.

No, i get your point, I just don't agree with it.


I change my classes up constantly. I'm always switching a gun or a silenced state, or a red dotted or scoped state. I think that by itself is enough to make me a better player. I don't need to prestige to "re-earn" things that I have already earned. There's no reason I can't go back to my saved classes and retool them to be less "endowed" as it were, and as a result I DO do that.

Also, I used to switch up btw the ak47 and the m60, but now I'm all over the G36 and P90, both with silencers. It's so much more fun to me with the silenced guns.

key to countdown is to STAY ALIVE for 5 kills. Camp, hide, do whatever it takes!!! It is pretty much dominated by whomever gets first airstrike/chopper as a result.

Of course do my patented save the chopper until you die routine

I use this setup for the more open smaller maps w/ lots barrier concentration. countdown/bog/(sometimes) backlot

Otherwise i stick to martyrdom or last stand on my mp5 setup

Generally though i'll almost exclusively use dead silence once i unlock it except for some of the ones i mentioned i use deep impact.


g3 silenced, frax x3, uav jammer, and Xtrem3 conditioning is fun too on the bigger maps. strike, overgrown, district. Beginning of the round flank the enemy and take down 3 before they realize what is going on.
