^^ You could have stopped with iTunes as a joke, never mind what platform it's on. Apple should break out the iDevice syncing, and make it more of a feature of the OS, both Windows and Mac. If it were decoupled from iTunes, I'd like that a WHOLE LOT.
^ lol, beat me to it.

What protective cases have you guys used? There are a couple different ones on the market; lookin for one thats pretty rugged and could withstand a bit of moisture. 5/17/2010 11:04:10 PM |

I had one of the apple cases but I gave it to my sister when I sold her the WiFi one. I liked it a lot and was going to get another but they were on backorder for 3 weeks when I checked.
Right now I just have a Zagg InvisibleShield (poorly applicated >.<). It works pretty well at helping me keep a hold of it and protecting from scratches. I wish I'd put on the back first to learn how to apply it before doing the screen. 5/18/2010 2:36:03 AM |

Best Buy was sold out of all except the non 3g 64gb. Im gonna check the local apple store tomorrow, and if no luck I guess ill order online. I'm debating between the 16gb or 32gb 3G.
The only hangup I have is the non webcam issue (which will definitely be included 9 months from now in the "2nd generation" Ipad). But when I think about it, just about every dang gadget I have has a camera on it already, so maybe I don't really need it. 5/18/2010 7:40:49 PM |

Has anyone tried any of the anti-glare screen protectors yet? I'm really interested in getting one but worry about how it will effect reading with iBooks and the Kindle app.
Also, son of a bitch.... I just touch typed this thing with 2 mistakes. I can't believe it works that well in landscape mode. I might have to try typing like this more often. 5/18/2010 10:15:50 PM |

Looks like the first real iPad competitor imo. I'm not a fan of the Bubbles interface but it actually looks close to production ready and runs at a reasonable speed.

Personally I'm way more excited about pwntunes. It works on the iPad and allows you to wirelessly add music, photos, and movies from any mac or pc with no itunes required at all. It's $14 though, so I'm waiting to read a couple of reviews before I check it out.] 5/21/2010 8:59:27 PM |

Hmm...I checked Cydia right before I made my last post and the most current (paid) version there still says it's not compatable with iPad and won't let you download it. Oh well. Everything I've read about it still says it's slow, but maybe the 802.11n in the iPad will speed things up a bit. Either way, I'm still very interested in trying out pwntunes. I like the idea of practically never having to have to use iTunes ever again. 5/21/2010 10:42:07 PM |

The competitors need to realize that when the screen size increases, the interface has to be more responsive. 5/22/2010 2:00:54 PM |

There's a program called Blue Cam that's free for the next couple of days that lets you connect to your iPhone through bluetooth and use the camera to take pictures on the iPad. It also transmits audio as well, which I guess means you could use your iPad and iPhone as a walkie/talkie of sorts. As long as you didn't go outside of bluetooth range (which is what? about 20 feet?) Anyway, it's not the greatest program in the world, but free is free. 5/22/2010 7:44:01 PM |

Couldn't tell you. I got a 3GS. The Bluetooth features of the 3G should be the same though. Then again I guess the camera isn't so that might have been the limitation of the other program. 5/23/2010 7:15:56 AM |

If I dont plan on putting all of my music on the Ipad, would it really be an issue that I got only the 16GB?
Besides my itunes library, is there something else im gonna miss by having just the 16gb? 5/23/2010 2:47:58 PM |

Apps (although it would take a lot to fill up 16gb), photos, movies.

^ What about videos? I have a 32gb and so far I've had it up to about 17gb full but that was when I accidentally had a full season of Top Gear on it. Otherwise I usually have 12gb or so on it. I definitely could have gotten away with a 16gb but I wanted to make sure I had plenty of extra space so I didn't need to worry about removing things on long trips. 5/23/2010 2:55:42 PM |

This. You can get by with 16gb but i've run into too many situations where I've needed a little more.
Thanks to AirVideo app you don't have to have video on your iPad because you can stream it from your PC/Mac (encodes mkv on the fly as well), doesn't support DRM stuff though
Also if you use zumodrive you don't have to have your music on the iPad/iPhone either5/23/2010 3:43:00 PM |

I went with the 16gb, knowing that at some point I will probably get a 2nd/3rd generation of the device ... I dont really use it for listening to music, so at this point 16gb has been plenty, even with the 10 videos from itunesU that I generally keep on it. 5/23/2010 3:43:16 PM |

So im pretty set that im getting an ipad, (after a ton of going back and forth), but it wont be for another 2 weeks or so. The following is a dumb question but......
I know that world wide release is the 28th; should I be worried about being able to pick one up in a timely manner after that? Will there be a shortage of Ipads? Right now it looks like there is about a 10 day wait if you order one from Apple. Will that wait increase any? 5/23/2010 11:24:04 PM |

dumb question but I just jailbroke again and once again, I can't find anything about it. What's the deal with changing the root password? I can't get Terminal to work now (or before) so I'm assuming that it can't be done. All of the jailbreak info out there is for iphone and there's just no details about it for iPad other than a random forum post popping up here or there stating to change it. 5/23/2010 11:40:21 PM |

They have been unable to fulfill their demands here in the US and it was an exclusive market. Now they're widening that market to international. Its either going to stay the same or get worse for the next month or so.5/24/2010 9:32:32 AM |

To testify to this, I picked up my 32gb 3G on Thursday from my local BB. They had been out of stock for at least 2 weeks. Thursday, they had 15 arrive (10- 64gb 3G & 5- 32gb 3G). I got the last one at 6 pm and it was just because it was "lost" where an employee had hidden it. So basically, they sold out 15 of the most expensive versions made within 6 hours of receiving them (came in at lunch). I would agree that it's going to stay the same or get worse for the next month.5/24/2010 9:52:36 AM |
