i don't see why everyone hates on mean dean. he may not be the most talented rb, but he runs hard and averages 4 ypc. he contributes on offense and has a different style of running than greene. i have no problem with him getting a share of the RB workload.

"from an FSU fan who sat next to me at the game last night
"there is one solid reason why the ACC will never be the SEC in football....OFFICIALS, there is no consistency in calls and there is no way one team can have what seems like 10 holding calls and the other team 0??? Come on Commish Swafford, get these guys $h!t together!"
now that I look at the penalties, it was really called pretty even
FSU 10 for 81 yards
NCSU 9 for 60"

And I'm sure FSU's legacy of being the most penalized team (going back through the Bowden era, including all of the championship teams) is really because the refs are "out to get" FSU, not the fact that they coach a philosophy of "if you commit a penalty every play, most won't get called."

nice vid ncsuftw1, well done! (but really, phil collins? kidding, kidding, phil is cool)

that recap reminded me how crucial bryan and williams were. & rw brought it correct.

but it needed more mustafa!

I don't hate Dean so much as that Mustafa is obviously running the best of all of our HBs and who the second best is a toss up other than the three fumbles Dean has had.

"Scenario:

In the next to last week of the season an unranked, two conference loss UNC team upsets #1 overall ranked Miami (previously unbeaten) in a Thursday night 34-31 thriller that they won on a 80 yard TD drive with 2 minutes left. This leaves them a game behind Miami for first place in the division but holding the tiebreaker.

Meanwhile, FSU has already clinched an appearance as the opponent in the Championship game. HOWEVER, in this hypothetical scenario an unimaginable series of events takes place just to illustrate my point.. News hits the wire leading up to the final week that 12 FSU starters have just been suspended for accepting illegal benefits from agents, numerous others are pending review for alleged academic misconduct, their star TE has broken his ankle, and their coaches son is being investigated for his relationship with a member of the athletic tutoring staff. The source of the scandal is a social networking site named Twitter and Sportscenter is reporting that an ineligible player/agent at FSU has been caught "spending mad stacks and having dumb long money"

In the final week of the season UNC falls behind 34-7 to Duke before TJ Yates erupts for 278 yards and 4 TD's in the 4th quarter to pull off a 35-34 win and replacing Maryland's Frank Reich as the most memorable comeback in ACC history.

Miami, deflated after the loss to UNC the week before and blowing their shot at a national title comes out flat against NC State and compiles 180 yards in penalties, a 6 yard punt, and benches their QB at halftime for punching their offensive coordinator.

A 3-8 NC State team with wins over Wake, App State, and Buffalo lines up to kick a 38 yarder that would give them a 11-10 win with no time remaining. (We scored off 2 FG's and a safety when a shotgun snap went over the QB's head and he dove on the ball in his own end zone).

Given this information, would you want that kick to go in?

"

I actually like this post. The FSU stuff is unneeded in terms of the purpose of the post. If you had posted the hypothetical #2 in the Atlantic in the post, it'd make more sense (i.e. who UNC would play in the conference championship).

I would actually probably want State to make that kick and then just hope and pray that UNC lost in the ACC title game.

The FSU stuff is just establishing that FSU is likely to be the loser of the championship game. I would still be rooting for state. It would take some sting off if we lost but can you imagine the UNC fans if they were the only team to beat a #1 ranked Miami?

i have to agree that i thought he looked even better against FSU. he looked like he was making stronger cuts with better field vision. but of course, he's been a beast all season.

As noted above the FSU part is critical to the post as it establishes the fact that UNC is likely to win the Championship if they can sneak into the game with a win against Duke and a Miami loss to State.

^They are a different team when they have a passable qb in the game to at least make the defense think there is a chance of a big pass play.

dont know what to make of this, coming from Ponder ... tends to make me feel bad for him that he completely BLEW the game for them (unless he's doing that Jon Gruden praise-your-opponent before the game BS) but not too much...

from the FSU newspaper before the game on Thursday

Quote :
"One Seminole who has especially high praise for Wilson is quarterback Christian Ponder. The Colleyville, Texas, native entered the season as the preseason favorite to earn first-team All-ACC honors at the quarterback position, but Ponder feels that honor should belong to Wilson at this point in the season.

“He’s the best quarterback in the ACC and one of the best quarterbacks in the nation,” Ponder said. “He throws the ball really well and makes great decisions. He’s got great feet, and in case something’s not open, he’s able to scramble. Our defense is going to have a heck of a challenge in front of them.”

Wilson has put up especially big numbers over the last three games, throwing for an average of 337 yards per game and seven total touchdowns. Despite those numbers, N.C. State dropped two of those three games due in large to eight interceptions thrown by Wilson, which is uncharacteristic given he holds the NCAA record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception (389)."

^^ awesome, now we just gotta concentrate going to be tough to win all 3 road games.

If we'd faced Duke or UVA instead of VT this year we'd be in so much better shape right now...

^^5:22. Chunk. Truffle shuffle.

And that video was great. Seeing all of those FSU fans hamming it up the whole time and just imagining what they looked like with about 50 seconds to go in the game. Especially the guy at 5:06.
